Edwards: GOP Exploiting NYC's Pain
Newsday ^ | Feb. 19, 2004 | Glenn Thrush

Albany -- A fire-breathing John Edwards stormed into the city Thursday and accused President George W. Bush of steering the GOP convention to New York to "exploit" the city's suffering on Sept. 11, 2001 for political gain.

Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he had wanted the city to host the Democratic convention, too, but party boss Terry McAuliffe demanded "an exclusive," leaving New York to the Republicans.

"I don't think that either party, if they had their convention here is trying is to exploit 9/11" Bloomberg said during a news conference in Washington Heights.

In his speech, Edwards focused on the divide between rich and poor in the city, ticking off negative economic indicators and citing job losses, rising bankruptcies and increased poverty rates.

Bloomberg bridled at that characterization, saying, "There is optimism about New York that you haven't seen in years."

The Dem candidates have no shame.

They are also the candidates of rhetoric only, pessimism, doom and gloom. They want to keep the people down.

Bush is a President of action, pro-action in the defense of the people, and that of optimism, who wants to lift people up.

The choice is clear.

Has it occurred to this dim-bulb Edwards that maybe the GOP going to NYC will bring in some revenue? Surely having that many people renting hotel rooms & eating tons of food will help their economy. (then again there IS the security for President Bush)

I thought the cities vied for the conventions.

Edwards: GOP Exploiting NYC's Pain

As an ambulance-chasing trial lawyer, Edwards should be an expert on the subject of exploitation.

The Dems are the ones who try to exploit it, and they have the colossal nerve to claim the Republicans are.

People need to know the truth, and the truth is that Bush IS defending the country, while the Dems would sell us out to the UN, and God knows how many terror attacks we would have had, if Bush hadn't taken such decisive action.

John Kerry: A Peacenik for President?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1081454/posts

"There is literally a danger to the nation if John Kerry should ever occupy the oval office in these turbulent and hazardous times. He seems oblivious to our being at war. The 3000 dead Americans of 9/11 seem invisible and garbled in his mind with a hatred of President Bush. Kerry's muddled thinking about Mr. Bush's ''exaggeration and lies'' misled him into voting for the war in Iraq.

There is a real question about what he would do if he were President and, if we suffered another major terrorist attack here at home. Would he try to ''talk and negotiate'' with the terrorists or would he fire off a few ineffectual cruise missiles a la Clinton? Or would he be frozen into inactivity while he waited for whiz kids like Kofi Annan to respond to our call for help or to offer their ''international'' permission to retaliate?

Let's face it: all indicators--and there are thirty-plus years worth to look at--tell us in our hearts that John Kerry may not be a wuss but he is a confirmed peacenik in time of war, and we'll still be at war in November 2004. The last kind of commander-in-chief that we need is a peacenik! The unbreakable Republican majority in the House and Senate can hopefully protect the country from most Kerryesque stupidities in economic policy. But a Jane Fonda think-alike in the role of president scares me! It should terrify most thinking Americans."

Bloomberg said as much.

"Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he had wanted the city to host the Democratic convention, too, but party boss Terry McAuliffe demanded "an exclusive," leaving New York to the Republicans. "

Idiot Edwards, he knows darn well that NYC is delighted to get all that tax money, the cops to get the overtime, the local union boys to get the set-up work, the hotels to get the occupants, the cabbies to get the fares, the restaurants to get the meals....

I heard the same sort of thing when President Bush went to the WTC on 9/14, that he was exploiting it, that he was interfering with rescue efforts, etc. It's just a warped and nonsensical world view, where no matter what Republicans do, it is wrong to these people. Bloomberg is actually doing something useful for a change in disputing this nonsense.

I'll answer Edwards;

Dear Clymer;

You ridiculous party had first crack at having your convention in NYC but passed on it in favor of Boston. Only after we chose NYC and most said what a great idea it was, did your party have buyer's remorse. Go chase an ambulance.

The Dems are the ones who try to exploit it, and they have the colossal nerve to claim the Republicans are.

If the Republicans held their convention in any other city, for any other reason, the RATS would say "they're afraid to show their faces in New York City because of how they failed on 9-11".

Being a RAT means you can stand on both sides of the fence. They have a special logic all their own.

John Edwards is a son of a bitch.

And I will say that to his face when I see him.

And I will take the ban for my language.
