SMART GUNS ANJRPC's Scott Bach and Nancy Ross Interviewed on BBC Radio LISTEN NOW

BBC radio interviewed Scott Bach (ANJRPC Executive Vice President and NRA Board Member) and Nancy Ross (ANJRPC media consultant) about NJ's Smart Gun law.

The BBC reporter visited the New Jersey Institute of Technology to report on the development of smart gun technology, and later sought comment from ANJRPC. You can hear Scott and Nancy respond to her questions on The World Today radio program, which is broadcast on air both in the US and internationally, as well as on the internet.

In the story, Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) is also interviewed. In response to Bach's argument that "the law should not limit my choice when it comes to defending my life," Senator Lautenberg brazenly states, "we don't want them to have a choice." The World Today radio program is scheduled to be aired today in the New York metropolitan area on WNYC radio's two stations as follows: FM 93.9 at 9:00 am and AM 820 at 9 pm and midnight. The smart gun story occurs approximately 18.5 minutes into the program.

You can also listen to the program over the internet. Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/world_today_vote.shtml?configfile=vote2.xml Under "In today's progamme" click on "Listen to 30 minutes of international news" and drag the cursor to 18:29 in the media player that loads.

Please note that stories on the BBC's World Today program are updated frequently so it is possible that the story may not air when and where listed.

According to liberals, choice is only a good thing when it comes to killing babies...

And they don't want it to be an informed choice, either.

I've heard that cops will not be required to carry "smart" guns. Is that correct?

Well, actually, the cops had made it very clear they will have no part of "smart guns." They are accordingly exempted.

I hate Lautenberg.

The Repubs were all set to win that Senatorial race in New Jersey and Forest, a conservative would be sitting in Lautenberg's seat right now, except for two factors - Chrissie Whitman and Deborah Poritz.

Forest was leading the Dems candidate, Torricelli, another anti-gun nutcase, early in the race. Toricelli had been renominate by the Dems. Torricelli had serious problems with allegations about his personal integrity (surprise, surprise), which lowered his ratings.

At the last minute, the Dems pulled Torricelli from the race and replaced him with Lautneberg, fresh from the grave.

The Repubs fought this as the State Constitution appeared to indicate this was not alllowed. It went to the State Supreme Court. Deborah Poritz, the Supreme Court Justice and her Court sided with the Dems, so the popular ex-Senator Lautenberg could run and win the race.

RINO "Chrissie" Whitman, a left-wing linousine liberal, correctly referred to as a "birdbrain" by Ann Coulter, put Poritz, a real left-wing liberal and her attorney general, on the New Jersey State Supreme Court as Chief Justice.
Whitman also appointed most of the sitting judges on the State Supreme Court - leftists all. New Jersey's Supreme Court makes the Ninth Circuit and the Florida Supreme Court look like a bunch of conservatives.

REMEMBER CHRISSIE WHITMAN. Calling her a "birdbrain" or a RINO is an understatement. Also remember her buddy, Eisenberg. Eisenberg is a wealthy financier who was once a copartner with Senator Corzine (D-NJ), another leftist liberal Senator from New Jersey at Goldman Sachs. Eisenberg set up a special PAC to benefit liberal leftist Republicans. Eisenberg was once a Democrat too. Eisenberg helped Chrissie when she ran for office, he traveled with her by airplane to the Republican convention that nominated Bush, and he's still out there somewhere in Jersey, active in New politics as a "Republican".

Eisenberg and Corzine want to give the American People a choice - choose from column "A" or choose from column "A".

Three leftist anti-gun dirtball multi-millionaires.

If "smart guns" actually worked, cops would get significant benefit from them since they often have to close in on criminals who know they're armed, and thus are at significant risk of disarmament.

If a "smart gun" isn't a benefit to a cop, it isn't likely to be a benefit to anyone else who would hold it.

Thank you for the clarification. So, the bums in legislature wish to experiment with the lives of the citizens they supposedly represent, while allowing cops the freedom to reject or except "smart" guns.

Besides the good citizens here at FR, is anybody in that bloody state awake?

There is, I understand, still a small number of intelligent people in that state who oppose this, but the politics there are against them. Their only hope is to escape the mess and emigrate to a saner state.

The Republican Party in New Jersey is totally useless.

In the last Legislative Elections in November 2003, the Dems swept BOTH houses. The fact that this happened when the sitting governor, Democrat James McGreevey, is one of the most unpopular in state history, is nothing short of incredible and a testament to their diviseness and ineptitude. Word has it that a lot of campaign money which should have gone to races that COULD have been won, was diverted by state Republican leadership to the campaigning of a well-connected, long-term liberal Republican incumbent named Bennett, who was laboring under a large cloud of personal scandals. Bennett should have resigned - he was a disgrace. All of this not withstanding, Bennett lost, not unexpectedly, and a lot of other Republicans did so also, due to a resultant lack of funds and poor state campaign leadership. The Rat who steered the State Republican Party into this mess, one Senator Kyrillos, refused to step down as state leader. The bum is still in that position.

In New Jersey, there is always a constant battle in the Republican Party between the rank and file Repubs, who are true moderates to conservatives, and the old, well-established, blue-bloods who are social liberals and alleged fiscal conservatives (but not very good at that either). People like Whitman, Tom Kean, Tom Kean Jr., Leonard Lance, Eisenberg, Frelinghuysen, etc. Whenever a conservative like Forrest (ran for governor against anti-gun leftist Toricelli and then was sandbagged by an illegal candidate swap at the last minute thanks to the legislating state Supreme Court) or Schundler (ran against McGreevey for govenor)gets nominated by the Party rank and file, the liberal moneyed members refuse to actively back that candidate, on the basis that he "can't win" in New Jersey. Whenever a blue-blooded left-wing maggot like Chrissie Whitman manages to get nominated, the conservatives and moderates back them as the only alternative is a socialist Democrat like Florio or McGreevey. (New Jersey Democrats are further to the left than those in most other states).
Good conservatives like Carroll, Merkt, Cardinale, etc. are pretty much ignored.

New Jersey has more attorneys per capita than any other state. The Trial Lawyers Association and the New Jersey Bar is very liberal there and back Dems and liberal Republicans heavily. Also, the NJEA (New Jersey Educational Asociation), the construction unions, the state employees association, and the police unions are the heavist contributors and they all back liberals for various reasons. The Methodist Church, among others, also supports liberal causes there like gun control, anti-death penalty movements, opposition to initiative and referendum, etc. The major state news organs - the New York Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Star-Ledger, the Gannett Press, are all very liberal and propgandize actively for liberal causes and the Dems.

Additionally, New Jersey has been FLOODED in recent years by invaders from the Five Boroughs of New York City - one of the biggest liberal centers in the Country. Add to that the large number of minorities in the major cities - Newark, Paterson, Camden, Trenton, Perth Amboy, etc, and you have a receipe for Democratic succcess.

The New Jersey Repubs are jockying now to determine who will run against McGreevey in two years. Characters like Tom Kean, Jr. and Leonard Lance, two blue-blooded liberals are already making campaign plans. My friends ther tell me Whitman may try to run against Corzine for Senator when he is up again.

New Jersey is a mess, primarily due to the liberal Republicans there.

Why is this important to the rest of the Country?

State Supreme Courts frequently defer in their decisions on issues to decisions already rendered on those issues by other state courts. New Jersey's Court, thanks to its politics, is the most liberal in the Nation. Their legislature and governor are liberal and they frequently concoct laws which are aped by other states and even the Federal Government (I believe the Assault Rifle Law started in New Jersey with Governor Florio - a Dem. After it was enacted, the Republicans took control of the legislature, and voted a law rescinding the assault rifle ban. Predictably, Florio vetoed it. Th Repubs had enough votes - on paper - to override Florio's expected veto, than crapped out after a secret Party caucus in which the views of the leftist blue-bloods and liberals probably prevailed) All the attorneys in the State legislature are constantly pushing for more and more laws which regulate every minutia of each citizen's existence. The attorneys like this as it genreates more suits and keeps them busy.

And all of it spells bad news for New Jersy - and for the rest of the Nation.
