'W' = Winner
My Own Damn [lone]Thought | 2/10/2004 | LowCountryJoe

There will be a time - probably two generations from now - when a child in say Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, and even Iran, will be reading their textbooks on the subject of World Civilization. They will learn that for eight years, in the early part of the century, there was a dynamic leader from the West whom had a vision of market-based economies and freedom for a region that was formerly centrally planned by brutal tyrants and 'mad men' despots. The children will no doubt be inspired and develop some ambition to do whatever it takes to maintain their newly found freedoms. That wise and perceptive child might even ponder: "If much of what is good was because of the vision a 'miserable failure', imagine what I can accomplish?"

What a heartwarming thought! Hope some libs read this and try to get past their stupid hatred for Bush and think about this. After all, they are the ones who say "Its for the children!"

LCJ: I agree with your sentiments... I'm looking for someone (either in the Admin., Congress, his re-elect committee, or the GOP) to start making the following point, over and over again:

W. came into office facing the following:

1. Stock market melting down (revenues from capital gains, which was hyped by the Clintoids, would evaporate in 2001 and 2002).
2. Corporate scandals (following the lead of that inspiring prior Administration) leading to a crisis in confidence in our markets and corporations.
3. Recession underway (probably started by Nov. 2000; certainly underway by 1-Q-2001).
4. Attacks on 9-11-01 -- the worst "foreign policy" challenge ever faced by a newly elected President in his first 8 months in office.
5. Facing a 50-50 Congress, he faced huge opposition to get his agenda moved -- and had to bend over backwards (making concessions I don't endorse) to the likes of Ted Kennedy.

In the face of all this, our economy has come roaring back. The jobs issue (always a lagging indicator) is muddled because of conflicting government reports. Can anybody imagine what this country would be like today if Al Gore had prevailed in stealing the election in Florida and having been put into this same situation... and not be frightened to death?

Yes, I have thought about that scenario. Here's what it means:

1. President Gore would have sent Maddy Albright over to Afghanistan in October 2001 to negotiate with OBL.
2. Economy in the tank with unemployment twice the current level.
3. Replace the medicare bill will a complete "overhaul" of healthcare (read: Hillarycare) in it's place.
4. Due to #3 above, projected deficits about $1 trillion higher than current projections.
5. Saddam has passed chem/bio stuff off to Al-Queda in trade for oil, and assistance in his renewed attempts to take over Kuwait.
6. Twice the number of homicide bombers attacking Israel due to family payment structures being sweetened by Al-Queda and Islamic nations in the region.
7. Bill Clinton on the SCOTUS.
8. 2002 elections result in D control of House & Senate. Hillary is voted Senate Majority Leader.
9. Jesse Jackson now House Chaplin.
10. Gore FCC enforcing the "Fairness Doctrine" now.
11. Tipper traveling the country and cutting public service ads in support of homosexual marriage.
12. Superbowl 2004 is carried by and on MTV.

Too bad he didn't have the same vision for his own nation.
