Statement from John Kerry Regarding Bush’s Comments on “Meet the Press”

February 08, 2004

For Immediate Release

“This morning on ‘Meet the Press,’ President Bush said his decision to go to war with Iraq when he did was because Saddam Hussein had ‘the ability to make weapons.’ This is a far cry from what he and his Administration told the American people in 2002. (Lie #1) Back then, President Bush repeatedly told the American people that Saddam Hussein ‘has got chemical weapons.’ And it was on that basis that he sent America's sons and daughters marching off to war. (Lie #2)

“The problem is not just that President Bush is changing his story now—it is that it appears he was telling the American people stories in 2002. (Lie #3) President Bush told America that Iraq had chemical weapons two months after his own Defense Intelligence Agency told him that there was—quote—‘no reliable information on whether Iraq is producing and stockpiling chemical weapons.’ And, as President Bush backpedaled from the imminent threat in Iraq (Lie #4), he needs to remember that his rush to war in Iraq (Lie #5) moved us away from capturing Osama bin Laden, starting at Tora Bora.

“George Bush needs to take responsibility for his actions and set the record straight. (Truth #1: Yes, Bush does need to set the Lies of Kerry sraight) That's the very least that Americans should be able to expect from the President of the United States. Either he believed Saddam Hussein had chemical weapons—or he didn't. Americans need to be able to trust their President—and they deserve the truth. (Truth #2, but then every political leader on this planet told us Saddam had chemical weapons and it is almost certain that he did)

“I hope that—in light of this new information today—President Bush will not only immediately agree to testify before his Intelligence Commission, but will clearly and precisely tell the American people what he knew when he launched the Iraq War and why what he is saying today is so very different.”

Lie #1: The President in 2002 made the case for War on the basis of 4 items: Saddam not cooperating with the peace resolution, Saddam’s quest for weapons of mass destruction, Saddam’s support of terrorists, and Saddam’s massive human rights. Saying that the basis for war was based on Saddam’s ability to make weapons is a complete mischaracterization of Bush’s speech.

Lie #2: Bush made it very clear in his speech in made in front of the nation in 2002 where he made the case for war, that it was the future threat that Bush was worried about. The fact that Saddam had chemical weapons was not a major issue in that speech.

Lie #3: Bush’s story hasn’t changed. It is the historical revision of Bush’s speech by the media and Democrats that has changed.

Lie #4: Bush did not say Iraq posed an ‘imminent threat’. Bush said in the state of the union address that Saddam must be taken care of before he became an imminent threat.

Lie #5: Saddam thumbed his nose at the peace agreement and UN resolution for over 11 years, that is hardly rushing to war. Saddam should have been taken care of long ago.

Lie #6: Is just a repeat of Lie #1 and Lie #2.

Kash and Karry needs to learn to keep his piehole shut.

This will work to the President's advantage. Kash and Karry's disrepect for the President will not play well to indies in the country.....it will only pander to the hard left. So, otoh, let him keep ranting......makes him sound like Dean.

In the interview the Tim Russert this morning Bush did not take any opportunity to attack Democrats. There were a number of times that Bush could have turned the table and given us some really good red meat. But Bush didn't. Bush remained presidential. He appear to be above these lies.

But how long can Bush survive repeated lies? You know the what they say, "tell a lie long enough..."

If Bush has to put up with this the rest of the election year he is going to lose in November. I feel like Bush should be on the offensive. Right now he is on the defensive, and the defense is not stopping the lies of the left. Is there some trap that the Bush administration has set that will really do Kerry in? Is the reason why the Bush administration is not handling these lies more aggressively is that they want Kerry's nomination to be solidified first, and then unload? I think Bush is often sly as a fox. Unlike most Americans I like my politics dirty. I hope I am wrong in wanting an immediate response and attacks on Kerry and Co.

That's why I posted this, we need to start pointing out just who the real liars are.

From the link to the Kerry Document:

__________________________________________________________________________

From the document:

I have said publicly for years that weapons of mass destruction in the hands of Saddam Hussein pose a real and grave threat to our security and that of our allies in the Persian Gulf region. Saddam Hussein's record bears this out.

Say what???????

Imminent Danger seems appropriate!!!!

"the President should testify"

Well, well, well, what we have here is just an attempt to get the President under oath, just like Clinton was put under oath when he testified for Starr. Like I said earlier, this is arrogance supreme.

They want the President to testify to give the impression to the public that President Bush has committed some kind of crime. Arrogance supreme.

One thing we can count on tho: Bush would never, ever think about lying under oath. Big difference. If Bush we lying, he would find some way of never testifying. Clinton, however, was too egocentric.... he knew he could rely on his reputation of Slick Willy. Not THAT is arrogance supreme.

It is now clear that Russert and the entire major media is out to get Bush at any cost! Kerry is a doctrinaire leftist(ADA rating 90-95%) a liar, and a giggolo! But the media is going to praise Kerry and trash Bush......I am worried!

Nothing has changed. The media always favors the Dems, although they like to keep the appearance of being neutral. I was a bit surprised that the media was tough on Dean, but now that Kerry has taken over the media has found a horse they think they can ride.

You're right .. President Bush would never consider lying under oath.

However .. that doesn't matter to the dems .. all they care about is giving the public the impression of Bush's guilt.
