"Ideas have consequences."
The common "ideas" that these suicide bombers and terrorists have is Islam. Islam. I suspect "the world" will just ignore the truth that Islam is the idea behind so much of the mahem this world currently is going through.
Okay, the truth is that Evil is behind it, and that Evil is expressed through Islam, Marxism, Atheism, etc....
But they're blind who don't see the evil of Islam.

Update, less than 2 hours old:
Seven killed as twin suicide bombings rip through Iraqi Kurdish city
AFP
ARBIL, Iraq, Feb 1 (AFP) - 11h14 - Two suicide bombers blew themselves up, killing at least seven people, including senior Kurdish officials, in the northern Iraqi city of Arbil on Sunday, medics, witnesses and party sources said.
The bombers entered separately the offices of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democractic Party (KDP) and detonated their explosives amid lax security because of the start of a major Muslim festival.
"Five people from the KDP were killed and many wounded," a hospital source told AFP in this Kurdish city 350 kilometres (220 miles) north of Baghdad.
PUK sources said two other bodies were found in the ruins of the office.
Witnesses said that among the dead were a senior member of each party, Saad Abdallah from the KDP, and Shahwan Abbas from the PUK.
The two bombs went off within five minutes of each other, at the two offices in the centre of Arbil, 10 kilometres (six miles) apart.
The blast rocked the city as its residents began celebrating the first day of the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday, the feast of the sacrifice.
On December 24 a suicide bomber killed two policemen and a civilian as well as himself and wounded another 15 when he blew up his pick-up truck outside interior ministry offices in Arbil.
An earlier attack on the same building on October 16 was foiled when guards shot dead the driver of an explosives-laden vehicle before he could detonate it.

Just another religious holiday from the Religion of Peace. I thought Eid was supposed to be the time for family goat-slaughtering, but I guess every Muslim holiday is an occasion to slaughter your fellow countrymen if they aren't in your particular crazy sect.

140 count agrees with your original post. It was an estimate. Morgue already has 57+ bodies. This was huge! Updated article by your 1st post's author here:
Suicide Bombings Kill at Least 57 in Iraq
By SCHEHEREZADE FARAMARZI, Associated Press Writer
IRBIL, Iraq - Two suicide bombers blew themselves up at the offices of two rival Kurdish parties in this northern Iraqi city, killing at least 57 people and injuring more than 235. One Kurdish minister said the death toll could rise above 100.
The dead included the governor of the region, ministers in the local administration and several senior officials, Mohammed Ihsan, the human rights minister for the Kurdish regional government, told The Associated Press.
Irbil city morgue director Tawana Kareem told the AP that 57 bodies were brought to he morgue and "figures are increasing." He said many bodies were taken away by relatives from the site of the blasts.
At least 235 people were admitted to the city's three hospitals with injuries, medical sources said.

Unfortunately, beating these folks is not sufficient. In order to out an end to the culture of terrorism, and terminate the cycle of revenge, hate and retribution, the terrorist culture must be utterly annihilated.

Stupid question here, but I really don't know this--are Kurds generally Muslim, or are they Christian? If they're Muslim, this is one of the biggest Muslim-on-Muslim terrorist attacks in a long time, certainly the biggest in Iraq.
And again, we sit in our blind and wait for a sighting of that fabled creature, the rare Eastern Moderate Muslim Who Has Common Sense And Renounces Violence (Mooslimus dontexistus).

The terrorists are getting increasingly desperate, as they're resorting to killing their fellow Middle Easterners in greater and greater numbers.

I support giving the Kurds a state.
In addition, terrorism will not end in Iraq until the militant Islamic ideology is eliminated, which is driving foreign terrorists to come in and fight Americans.
