A senior Defense Department official tells us one of the alarming after-action intelligence reports that reached the Pentagon is that the communist government of Cuba shared intelligence on the United States with Saddam Hussein's regime.
The reports stated that Cuban intelligence, which is known to have extensive "coverage" of U.S. military bases, supplied information to Saddam's intelligence service on the movement of troops and other military activities.

I'm surprised this is coming out now.
I suspect that there is tons of interesting tidbits in the 1000s of files we recovered in Iraq.
I expected a steady stream starting this spring becoming a flood in the summer with Saddam's trial and "capture" of UBL's body in the fall.

Who here is shocked? Anti-American war protesters are Pro Castro anyway and conservatives hate the bastard, so why the story? I'm shocked it's not buried by the media! I'm more pissed at Old Europe who are supposed to be allies and then screw us at every turn! That's the story!

There's a difference between explaining a situation and promoting it.
The DemoRats support of Fidel is a simple fact of life. No action against Fidel will occur without their approval or the approval of a large bloc. Look how difficult it is to maintain the embargo in the face of DemoRat "fact finding" trips to Cuba.
No action against Fidel will occur no matter how right it is, no matter how beneficial to Cuba, the Caribbean, the USA, or the world. The DemoRats will not allow it. The unfortunate fact is that we will have to wait until he dies or finds his life suddenly shortened by coup or rebellion. At that point, I hope we are able to push a measure through to support the rebellion or do some creative "peace keeping" on the coup.
