Leftist ladies in lockstep: How unique

Just when we are so very tired of the cold and the early darkness and the bleakness of winter, there is hope just around the corner. Beginning in March, there’ll be a series of talks at the Rosemont Theatre presented by Unique Lives & Experiences.

According to its web site, Unique Lives & Experiences is the country’s foremost women’s lecture series. It "was developed in response to women’s requests for intellectual entertainment and provides them with a forum for meaningful dialogue and stimulating interaction."

Meaningful dialogue. Stimulating interaction. Think there are enough red flags here?

Obviously not for the sponsors of the series. These include Carson Pirie Scott, American Airlines, the Chicago Tribune and Grants Appliance, for those of you who wish to update your enemies list.

The speakers are Janet Reno, Shirley MacLaine, Candice Bergen and Sarah Weddington. And, as a special event addition, Maya Angelou will also participate.

These gals will be sharing, says an ad in the Tribune, "the stories of a lifetime." And what stories they are.

Janet Reno served as Clinton’s attorney general. She could talk about what it was like to authorize using tanks and tear gas at Waco. Dozens of people, including many children, died because of her decision.

In 2000, she had INS agents in full battle gear nab six-year-old Elian Gonzalez so she could send him back to the friendly confines of Castro’s Cuba. What the Clinton gang wouldn’t do "for the children."

Actress Shirley MacLaine has a long history of involvement with Leftist politicians. Active in George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign as well as others, she’s since moved on to demonstrate her diminished capacity in different ways. She claims that in a past life she had three children with Emperor of the West Charlemagne.

Shirley’s got her own web site, of course. It features, she told an interviewer in 2000, "the best footage of UFOs" as well as a chat board on pet spirituality.

Naturally, she’s helped raise money for Mz Clinton and told Hillary’s husband: "You are a mirror for all of us." If that’s true, we need to scrub that mirror down pronto.

Candice Bergen is best known for portraying TV’s Murphy Brown. She was raised in Hollywood, the daughter of radio ventriloquist Edgar Bergen. Edgar’s career was suited for radio, mainly because his lips moved faster than Britney Spears getting ready to smooch Madonna.

His primary wooden alter ego was named Charlie McCarthy. Candice was sometimes called Charlie McCarthy’s little sister. But Candice was no dummy. She knew that in the world of make believe, Left is the only way to travel. Back in the 60s, she hooked up with Bobby Kennedy.

More recently, she’s done fundraising for Hillary and even given some of her own cash to the usual suspects such as Clinton, Gore and Kerry. She was so loyal that she qualified to be an overnight guest at the Clinton White House. I’ll bet Hillary patrolled the halls with a frying pan in her hand that evening.

Sarah Weddington argued for abortion in the decisive Roe v. Wade case. This is often described as a victory for women, which is difficult to accept if you consider that, of the 40 million unborn babies put to death because of her efforts, approximately half have been female.

As a reward, no doubt, for this magnificent accomplishment, Sarah was appointed to be Assistant to the President, the highest White House staff title, under Jimmy Carter. She’s contributed money to Bill Clinton and others of the Democratic persuasion.

Maya Angelou is a writer and poet. In 1993, she favored us with a reading of one of her poems at Clinton’s inauguration. That was memorable as she managed to rhyme "Jew" with "Sioux" and "Greek" with "Sheikh."

She’s considered an intellectual by many of those on the Left because of gibberish such as this as quoted in Mother Jones:

"The conservative right has decided that artists are apart from the people. That's ridiculous! I mean, at our best the writer, painter, architect, actor, dancer, folksinger - we are the people. We come out of the people, and remain in the people."

People are people. Who’d have ever guessed?

When not imparting such riveting insights, Maya sends checks to the Clintons, Carol Moseley Braun, Jesse Jackson, Jr., Al Gore, the Democratic National Committee, the Black Congressional Caucus and other worthies. She’s also given money to Senator John Edwards, so maybe she’s got a poem she’d like to read at another inauguration.

Five women sharing, for a little over $500 if you want a good seat, their unique lives and experiences. Not a conservative or Republican in the bunch. Kudos to Carson Pirie Scott, American Airlines, the Chicago Tribune and Grants Appliance. You sure know diversity when you see it.

intellectual entertainment and provides them with a forum for meaningful dialogue and stimulating interaction.

"Stimulating Interaction" - I bet Monica could relate some experiences that would interest the women drawn to this series. I wonder why she is not on the agenda.

I wonder why she is not on the agenda.

Possible because her "contributions" were not of the monetary kind.

Don't boycott these "lovely" ladies. Instead, let's send them to Iraq - as interrogators. Between them they can make anyone talk. Show the Iraqis pictures of Waco: "This is what Janet Reno does to Americans, can you imagine what she will do to you". And I guarantee you, after listening to Maya Angelous "poetry", the average Al-qaida terrorist will tell us anything, just to shut her up.

Instead, let's send them to Iraq. . .

A good idea, BUT. They gotta promise not to come back.

...and were, at any rate, more in the nature of withdrawals....

Um... how can you... oh, never mind.
