Rush's PERFECT comments Re: Donovan McNabb
me

Posted on 01/19/2004 9:26:26 AM PST by Pukin Dog

For those who missed it, Limbaugh performed the most perfect comments on Donovan McNabb this morning by not even mentioning his name.

Instead he contrasted the way that Payton Manning came out and took responsibility for his performance against the way that the media instantly set out to blame the Eagles' wide recievers for what happened to them.

It was the best revenge, because by not mentioning McNabb, no one in the media can say that Rush attacked McNabb, but to all us football fans, what Rush DIDNT say, was LOUD AND CLEAR. Thanks Rush!

Yeah, heard it too. It was great. You can almost cut the sarcasm as Rush castigates all the callers trying to lay blame on McNabb

Why would he mention him? Getting to the divisional finals is a pretty good performance, it seems to me.

He went almost play-by-play explaining why the Iggles receivers were terrible and it was THEIR fault every pass was overthrown, underthrown, badly thrown, etc.

I have to be honest: I watched the game and thought it was 50/50 the "fault" of McNabbit and his receivers. If a defender takes away a slant, the receiver can't RUN A SLANT, and the QB has to adjust.

I thought that Car. did what it had to do: keep McNabbit from running and make him beat them with his arm, the way the Patsies made Manning defeat them with his legs. Neither was up to the task.

Rush should hang it up. He is never, ever going to be a football announcer on any network at any time.

There's something unsavory about this whole thing.  It appears to be a contract job by The Good Intentions Paving Company.

Danny White was run out of Dallas after getting to the NFC championships three years in a row . . . and losing. The only guys who seemed to keep their jobs after such a performance were the Buffalo Bills of the early 1990s.

Hey, let's be fair -- McNab was injured quite early on.

I was wondering how long it would take him.

However, it seems that the most obvious answer is that one team showed up to play and the other didn't. I wonder if anyone in the Philly meadia bothered to mention that?

Shaun King took the Bucs to the NFC Championship Game a few years back, too. He hasn't started a game since.

I'm fair. I think McNabb is a highly average QB IF you keep him from running. Likewise, I think Manning is highly average if your FORCE him to throw on the run. That's not a knock. McNabb was NOT effective before being hurt, however.

Sorry...but McNabb is nothing more than a mediocre QB. I'd take Culpepper and a handful of others before McNabb.

Rush is a treasure. I wondered how he would handle McNabb's failure yesterday, and he knocked it out of the park. Everyone knows that McNabb could have gotten a shot and felt nothing in order to come back in the game, but he was taking a beating. When his team needed him most, he sat it out.

The media went nuts laying blame on all McNabb's teammates instead of on their leader, where it belongs.

Payton Manning, having been raised right and conservative, came forward and took all the heat for losing. The unspoken contrast was better than anything Rush might have said about McNabb.

In a game where McNabb was NOT getting his butt kicked, he threw 4 touchdowns on a broken ankle. You are talking to the wrong guy.

The panthers won game with a cheap shot on a downed quarterback. There is not much glory in that. It affected the entire game afterward.

Exactly right! Trying playing football with cracked ribs. Of course he might have played through the pain if Rush shared some of his medication....

The Steelers were not involved, so I really didn't care, BUT:

There was a cheap, late shot on McNabb early in the game. It affected the game, no doubt, but I just don't think the Eagles were playing well enough to win.

Rush hates McNabb for some reason. Didn't hear what he said - but I know that it is not gonna be anything nice about McNabb.

Did anyone hear Tom Jackson on ESPN, he immediately came to McNabb's defense by placing the blame on his recievers. It was laughable and so transparent.

Rush was the BIGGEST winner yesterday!!!
