Second Cabinet: Who will stay on? Who will resign?

Posted on 01/01/2004 6:01:42 AM PST by Reader of news

If President Bush is re-elected, some Cabinet members will stay on but other members will resing. I think Powell will resign surely and Rice, Wolfowitz and Bremer will upgrade. What is your opinion about Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, Ridge, Paige, Thompson...?

Rummy will "resign" and so will Ashcroft. It would be an interesting historical parallel if Pres Bush appointed his brother, Jeb, to state or justice!

I wish Cheney would switch to a Cabinet post (Secretary of State?) so that a successor to Bush could be in place for 2008 rather than someone starting out 'cold' in a run against Shillary.

Might I hazard a nomination of Norm Mineta to be the first to go? Any seconds on the nomination????

One of the media mavens was speculating the other day that Powell or Rice might be the next vp candidate.

Seems like a good move to me.

Happy New Year to All!

Public service is very simular to sales.
If a product is good and the shpeil sells ... why change?

Many a good salesman has suffered the bane of 'the latest' technique when the basics is all there is to selling.

You may catch the eye with a glitzy web page, but the product, if not good, will fail to sell.

For all practical purposes, the Bush administration has the numbers on the board to toast a job well done and to go for more in double-aught four.

The product is good,
the price is reasonable,
The sales team professional and successful,

Why change?

Agree.
Cheney will be brought in for an oil change and tune up and will be good for another 500,000 miles.

Mineta's just hanging on, while others do the heavy lifting. He's irrelevant.

My wish is for Powell to go!

Ashcroft qualifies for sainthood IMO

Paige is also irrelevant.

Cheney is a lightning rod for bad press re. oil companies. Cheney is unelectable as President. He should resign after W's reelection and should be replaced by Rice in anticipation of 2008. For those who favor Jeb's future in national politics, there is absolutely no chance of Jeb being elected Presedent.

I'll second that! Mineta was the biggest mistake.

Someone on TV last night said Powell had already indicated that he didn't want to be part of the cabinet in '04. My bet is that Cheney will stay on the ticket, but maybe Rice will upgrade to Sec. of State.
