Maybe related to Isreal's concern about New Years Eve.

Nothing follows. Probably a very true statement. They will come out and say 'There is some bad people a wantin' to hurt us' and then tell us to go back to work.
Just seems some of these things are a little slack on details at times. If they have some details, especially photos of the perps, hope they show em.

This is what hes going to say: "we dont have any specific threats for New Years, just a general threat for the holidays" "go on as usual, be vigilent"........yawn.

Although I consider myself a peace-loving citizen, I am really getting tired of having to deal with the threats.
Personally, I can think of more than a few ways to end the situation right now.

Considering the recent flights out of Paris to LA being possible foiled terrorist acts, I wouldn't take these warnings too lightly.

Just a guess: "We have received __________ threats and are doing everything possible to assure safety. However, if____ happens, continue to monitor ebs etc."

Back to Big Bird, perhaps?

"We have specific information about certain threats to certain places. We're not going to tell you anything about it, though.
"So, go back to work, and don't worry your little heads. We have trained authorities to deal with all your problems.
"And go out and buy more stuff.
"And never you mind about those 'undocumented workers.' We're on top of that."

To those that disagree with the threat warnings, just look at Israel.
A tiny country, yet they announce general threat warnings with no real specifics. Seems it would be much easier to nail down a specific threat in that country, but their warning was general, in effect.
They could assault us by sea, they may be suicide bombers, they may target hospitals, etc. etc. etc.
If Israel can't offer solid warnings, how would the United States be able to offer a warning.
And say they warned about an event in NYC and an event happened in LA, do you know how the media would howl.
I think general warnings are just fine, lets people be alert, and lets the terrorists know we realize there is a threat.

I think everyone involved are inept. Starting with Ridge, and then the media itself. The terrorists gather clues from both these two and shift their attack plans accordingly. The media does a good job of letting the terrorists know what targets are soft and what targets are heavily fortified.
I can just imagine some terrorist summit in some cave somewhere and one of the underlings says "Let's try ____" and OBL or the second in charge says "No, CNN said the US Government infidels are making sure that won't happen, but we'll table that idea for the time being, thank you Abu".

Naw, he's changing the color codes.
Red will become vermillion, orange will be citrine, yellow will become topaz ochre, blue will be cerulean, and green becomes French chartreuse. He's also adding another color -purple, which be known as "diffuse sunset glow lilac" to mark any occasion on which he is making a speech.

Market is still going strong, twenty more minutes. Still no idea exactly what this briefing will be.

All I need to know is we're (collectively) out there thwarting pending attacks, rather than caving in beyond the point of paranoia once the alert status hits orange. Fear is the terrorist best weapon, and when they learn through media outlets that a country as far and wide as ours is, has people lining up to buy duct tape in Home Depot, the terrorists have won the PsyOps war.
