FOLLOWING reports of tension between popular WABC talk-show hosts Batchelor & Alexander, Batchelor was expected to announce last night that his three-year radio partnership with Paul Alexander is history. "John Batchelor will tell listeners . . . that he is going to host the show by himself," said John McConnell of ABC Radio, which syndicated the WABC-based team.

The show seems to have a large number of affiliates across the country, and many freepers are familar with it.

Apparently at least on affiliate has had a hard time dealing with the show change, WBAP 820 in Dallas has the show listed (complete with profile) as 'The John Alexander Show'.

I remember listening to them in the late 90's, when they were all over the TWA800 story, they didn't buy the Clinton Admin spin for a minute.

This show was basically Art Bell plus politics.

Batchelor wrote a novel titled "Father's Day" that was pretty good.

It is a good show.

I think the incident they are referring to was when Loftus claimed that Oswald acted alone in shooting JFK. Alexander went nuts, telling Loftus he should check his sources. He was really trashing Loftus, not in an offensive way, but you could tell he was angry.

John can do the show by himself, Monica Crowley tags along sometimes. The only time I can't take listening to the show is when Craig Crawford is on.

He did explain the absence of Alexander, he said he had left to pursue writing for a broadway show.

Poor Alexander, he keeps picking losers. He wrote a book about John McCain and this year finished a book about John Kerry......really thought Kerry'd be the dem nominee.

John Loftus is on the mark a lot of the time but also has a personal agenda. He's involved in the 9/11 lawsuit against Saudi Arabia. I believe that often colors his 'facts' which may be nothing more than wishful thinking.

I take it then that Alexander was the Democrat of the two...

Once in a while, Loftus does talk about stuff that appears in the media months later, so he must have some intel sources. Loftus did apologize for saying that Saddam had been dead since the first night of the war.

Wasn't Loftus the once who kept claiming that he had great intelligence telling him that Hussein was dead?

Wasn't there a post pulled from someone claiming to be one of those two about this subject from about 45 minutes ago?

I'm glad somebody else caught it, there were a few comments on the thread, too mainly asking who the hell they were.

Alexander is very liberal socially but ultra-hawkish on the war
perhaps to the right of Batchelor on this subject.
I heard Alexander the night he trashed Loftus on the Kennedy assassination.
It was a very tense segment.

Alexander has been snarky with several other guests recently.
Too bad he is going, his cynical wit made the programme a delight
a welcome antidote to Batchelor's ponderous pontifications.
