Over 50 bags of hashish litter the deck of the dhow intercepted in the Arabian Gulf. A U.S. Navy boarding team operating from the guided missile destroyer USS Decatur (DDG 73) discovered an estimated two tons of narcotics with a street value of around eight to ten million dollars aboard a 40-foot dhow intercepted in the Arabian Gulf. The dhow's 12 crewmembers were taken into custody and transferred to USS Decatur, and Decatur sailors are in control of the dhow. DoD photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Sandberg, U.S. Navy. Of course, two hundred years ago there were no powerful moral-liberal groups extolling hedonism and proselytizing selfishness and personal irresponsibility and rebellion against God and society.

Indeed.

A nice myth and a good lesson from history.

Welcome to the Board and beware of the trolls.

Where? All I see is you flippantly claiming that children shouldn't expect to have narcotics delivered to them because the local Five and Dime store doesn't make deliveries. Where in your statements is there any indication that you believe there should be any prohibition on the sale of narcotics to minors?

Great job filling in.

So now the honorable "Warriors of Allah" need to justify dope dealing, in addition to murder, rape, torture and other unspeakable abominations of ANY God.

There are two things I would not want to be nowadays, a terrorist or a democRAT. Both are bigtime losing propositions.

Recipe For MAJOON

Majoon, in some provinces of India, is a potent jam which may be spread on crackers, used as a pastry filling or eaten by the fingerful.

One way to prepare it is: Toast 1/4 ounce of cleaned marijuana tops on a dry skillet over low heat until golden brown.

Be careful not to scorch it. Pulverize the toasted grass with 1 cup chopped dates, 1/2 cup raisins or currants, 1/2 cup ground walnuts, 1 teaspoon each of ground nutmeg, anise seed, and ginger, and 1/2 cup honey.

Cook the mixture with 1/2 cup of water (add more if needed) until the ingredients have softened and can be blended together. While hot, add 2 tablespoons of melted butter or ghee and stir for 5 minutes.

Seal in a jar and keep under refrigeration.

(prior to this post, I had never heard of Majoon; this recipe is from a Google search)

Weyerhauser and Dupont basically got it banned for that reason.

Do you have any evidence to back this up?

Oh, and don't mind CJ, he's just the resident crank around here when it comes to cannabis. All viewpoints on marijuana legalization are well-represented here on FR.

Well, maybe not the only thing the Mongols ever did for humanity, after all they did delay (indirectly) the conquest of Constantinople for awhile.

However, the destruction of the cult of hashasin was certainly one of the top 10 Mongol achievements!

Khan's troops were ordered to be quite thorough. They killed everyone found at the Hashasin mountain fortress; warriors, elders, wives, children - it was a Carthage style clean sweep and it worked!

Perhaps we could learn a little from their experience with Islamic terror.

Sort of seemed like someone pi**ed in CJ's punch bowl.

Personally I have said for over 30 years, legalize marijuana for adults. To me it can be a very benign and helpful drug.

I'm 57 and had a very many fine experiences with it back in the late 60's and early 70's, and feel like it is an old friend....who I haven't seen in a long while. Oh well!

Hemp is by far the cheapest and most efficient thing in the world to make paper out of and Weyerhauser and Dupont basically got it banned for that reason.

Welcome to FReepers!!

Several years ago my daughter brought home a flier that was circulating on campus about the equivalency between marijuana and alcohol and stated "facts" as to when and why the US initially outlawed marijuana. Supposedly, marijuana was the drug of choice by Mexicans, who even then were flooding across our borders. Our government hoped to discourage them from coming here by making marijuana illegal.

Hemp was once widely used for ropes and paper. It grew wild and fast and was a cheap source. But since marijuana is in the hemp family, with its leaves closely resembling those of marijuana, it was banned as well, because the two varieties were almost indistinguishable.

And so the government supposedly started a campaign to "educate" the public about how bad marijuana was, and sent their agents out to destroy all the hemp, including that which grew wild in the countryside.

There was no mention of Weyerhauser and Dupont.

Have you heard of this theory?

"ACLU, Libertarian Party and National Review defend smugglers, calls for legalization!"

All three also believe the sky is blue, the clouds white and 2+2=4. Time to rethink everything!
