CAMPAIGN CASH RACE TURNS INTERNATIONAL

CAMPAIGN CASH RACE TURNS INTERNATIONAL; MOVEON.ORG CENTER OF INTRIGUE; CLARK SEEKS CANADIAN SUPPORT, WEBSITE SHOWS

Frustrated with the lack of domestic support, left-leaning website moveon.org has apparently been reaching beyond American borders to generate cash revenue over the Internet!

The provocative international fundraising strategy threatens to embroil the presidential candidacy of General Wesley Clark and former Vermont Governor Howard Dean. Both men are named on international fundraising websites suggesting donations to moveon.org...

Moveon.org, which has been running ads critical of the Bush Administration, has named an "International Campaigns Director."

It is not clear how much money has been raised from foreign sources, but political websites from London to Portugal have been directing their citizens to stop the American president George Bush by donating to moveon.org.

FROM DU:

I've got Drudge & Bush-lovers RILED UP

Drudge today posted an idiotic story about how Clark and Moveon.org are actively seeking foreigners to give them money. (http://www.drudgereport.com/mattmo.htm ...sensationalist much?)

All because my site at one point (not any more) asked Canadians to donate to MoveOn.org, which before their new restrictions came into place, was apparently perfectly acceptable.

Now I've got reporters emailing me for an interview, and I just got 200 "Canada is socialist" and "Why are you trying to destroy America??!!" emails in just the past few hours.

I'm in a state of shock. Never thought my little, useless site would have this kind of attention.

Did I do something wrong? Did I just unintentionally help smear Clark (even though Mr. Drudge is totally overexaggerating things)? And was it illegal of me to ask for Canadians to donate to Moveon.org? Because thats the overall gist of what the "go to hell you Canadian commie!!" emails are telling me.

Anyway I'm going to distance myself from this for the time being. I just got off my last exam, and now this??!! Maybe I should stop trying to get involved..

We live in igloos, hunt beaver, and can't vote for your President, but... www.CanadaForClark.com

You don't see it do you.

Huh?

I do not see people on FR soliciting money for campaigns from foreign donors.

That's because it is illegal, and we have principles and morals.
