Did you see Lieberman on MTP this morning? His main comment: I don't want Saddam tried by the International Court because they won't apply the death penalty. Iraq or US, but it has to be somewhere with the death penalty.

Made me remember that politicians of both parties - even ones that are running for president - occasionally give a crap about the real world.

We are in a war arguably the most dangerous foreign war we have ever faced -- not just Iraq but the entire war to defend against radical Islam and our own internal enemies -- and the mainstream talks politics!!

It takes a Daniel Pearl or a David Bloom to get the media's attention where it belongs (sadly, not a Michael Kelly).

Short of one of their own being killed, everything is now seen through the lens of partisan politics first.

Toward the end of Brian Wilson's spot on FNC Sunday, Wilson was talking to Chris Wallace and John Warner. Wallace said "I expect that Bush won't repeat the 'Mission Accomplished' mistake from the carrier," and Warner observed "But this mission WAS accomplished -- they captured Saddam Hussein!"

Furthermore, no Democrat is running for president as a little ray of sunshine, but John Kerry used the occasion Sunday morning to tell Fox News that although the capture was good, the administration still has not done enough about AIDS. Can someone that tone-deaf govern?

Howard Dean was more gracious than he was when Saddam fled Baghdad. Then Dean said, "I suppose" that Sad-dam's removal was a good thing.

I just don't get the fixation with DU. If DU is so wonderful, why don't those who extol their virtues just stay there?

1.) I have never, EVER seen any FReeper post anything even remotely LIKE "DU is wonderful" on this site, and challenge you to provide a working link to said comment. Pointing and laughing at the illiterate slimeballs does not translate, inexplicably, into "these illiterate slimeballs are great" anywhere save (possibly) on the Bizarro-World.

2.) Our "fixation" with DU (your word, not mine) is the same sort of enjoyment one naturally derives from watching tiny, artless toddlers pretending to be intelligent, capable grown-ups... and (naturally) pratfalling hilariously in their failed attempts.

You, personally, don't find it equally as funny...? Don't click onto the handy links provided, then. Nobody's forcing you to stare and giggle along with the rest of us, you know. :)
