Neal Easterbrook considers himself lucky for the number of deer he brought back to his Shelby Township home and the time spent with family during this year's hunting season.

Easterbrook, who went hunting with his brother and father in Michigan's Thumb, bagged a 7-point buck and two does during the 15-day firearm season that concluded Sunday.

if the sarah brady gun grabbing crowd gets there way they will be having to hunt with spears and slingshots next season and i dont think that the 1.2 billion dollars number will hold up after that and thats 1 billion dollars in one state imagine what it is nationwide everyyear

1.2 billion is nothing compared to the economic impact of repairing cars and trucks that have been ruined in deer crashes. In Florida, Georgia and Alabama the deer zig zag across the roads like squirrils. It is difficult to avoid them. There needs to be a longer hunting season with much higher bag limits.

...and while were at it, we need an open season on those pesky squirrils that knaw power lines and pollute our roadways like squashed flat frogs.

Most states have such seasons, some are year round. The problem is that they are not open in towns and cities, which is the only place I've seen squirrels be such a problem. Squirrel isn't even bad eating, for a near realtive of a 'Rat. Our dog, 1/2 Australian shepard, has killed three of the furry little rats. The first was "special circumstances", but the the other two were just fair stalking with help from our other dog, 1/2 Charpei(sic), to block the favored escape route. Squirrels are fast, but nowhere near as smart as the dogs.

Maybe you are right most of the time.
BUT--a "Deer Hunter" got lost here near San Diego. The stupid ass then either fired a flare or shot off his rifle, Either way, the now notorious Cedar Fire was started which cost 2300 homes and 17 lives. So far, the estimates COST is near 2 Billion dollars.

My dog bags 4 or 5 squirrils each year. I love to watch the dog racing over the field like a greyhound after the "rabbit." My neighbor keeps ours culled with a 410. They are good eating, but not much meat.

Careful now. Spears and slingshots are the next target for the libs. I never want my assault slingshot outlawed. Also, I have a very expensive, gold inlaid collection of Browning and Ruger spears.

Always marry a hunter, I say.

The first year, I cried. We had only been married a short time.

The second year, I had his clothes packed a week early and with a tear in my eye, :-), told him to don't come home without one. I knew he was a lousey hunter!!!! Ahhhhhh. It was a good two weeks!!

Rifles cause fires.

Computers cause floods.

Cars cause sunspots.

Squirrels gnaw on flattened frogs that have just gnawed on power lines used to blind deers zigzagging across the highways.

I am waiting to see a zigzagging deer leap over the zigzagging squirrel and get plowed by a car which is flattening the squirrel to look like a frog frisby.

Slingshots are already outlawed in a large number of places, including, I think, California! ( at least for people under the are of 18)
