A NEW DAY, A NEW LIFE: Thelma Stuart, who lost her husband, Officer Walwyn Stuart, on 9/11, waits with daughter Amanda to board in Jersey City.

November 24, 2003 -- A PATH train carrying passengers from New Jersey pulled into the World Trade Center station yesterday for the first time since the fall of the Twin Towers - marking a milestone in the recovery of terror-struck lower Manhattan.

Jean Mitchell of Hoboken, who lost a friend in the attacks, was crying as she got off the train. "It's the same stairs, the [same] newsstand," she said. "It's a victory, an absolute victory."

I've never been on the PATH, but I think I'm going to take a ride on it in the next week or so.

"This is a part of history," said Jay Wishner, 64, who lives in lower Manhattan. "They knocked us down, but they can't knock us out."

My sentiments exactly.

What is the NAME of the station? World Trade Center? Seeing as how the World Trade Center isn't there any more, did the consider changing the station's name?

we are all hope that the new buildings will also be called the world trade center, I can't imagine what else they would call them.

That's a nice picture of it. We were visiting from Ohio over the Thanksgiving weekend, and took the subway to the memorial site Sunday evening. I was struck by how the very SECOND I stepped on the ground there, I felt the sacredness of the site. I was totally awestruck as was the rest of my family! I can still hardly believe that the complex is gone. It befuddles the mind how much hate it took to bring the place down, along with the many innocent people there who sacrificed their lives knowingly or unknowingly. May God continue to bless our country! I, for one, will never forget.

IMHO, the WTC is still there, although it has changed significantly in its appearance. It is hallowed ground. People from all over the world perished there. I still think the name is appropriate.

BTW, I didn't realize until I visited Sunday evening that one of the corners of the site is the intersection of Church and Liberty streets. Anyone else find that interesting? I had never noticed it before.
