[history]
WASHINGTON - Three Arizona lawmakers brought several local community organizers to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to show that widespread grass-roots support exists for their bill to create a nationwide guest-worker program that would include legalizing scores of undocumented immigrants.
The groups, mostly representing Hispanic immigrants, hailed from as far away as California and as nearby as the District of Columbia. They included organizations such as the Bangladeshi American Federation here; the Society of Honduran Residents in Oakland.; and the Dallas-based Mexican Professionals Abroad. In Arizona, the Tucson Chamber of Commerce and others have endorsed the bill.

If the PA GOP can find a Republican to oppose SPECTRE, why can't AZ get rid of John McPain?

I have a question: What's wrong with a guest worker program? (And please don't respond by giving me links to a hundred various articles on the topic; a simple answer would suffice.)

You are wrong about one thing, I knew Jim Kolbe and John McCain, and they are no Republicans. They just put an R behind their names.

a nationwide guest-worker program that would include legalizing scores of undocumented immigrantsI question the accuracy of this characterization. It would be more accurate to say that the program would "include documenting scores of undocumented immigrants." Anyone going through the documentation process of a guest worker program would be hear "legally" in the sense that they would be here legitimately and under the law, but only temporarily, and they would not be granted citizenship.

--it worked fifty years ago but won't now because none of them will want to go home and they will have a built-in-America group of liberal do-gooders who will push for legislation to allow them to stay.
Also, the Demotraitors will have them voting as soon as they cross the border--

The problem is that a lot of economic conservatives, from the Wall Street Journal, Club for Growth, and Libertarians favor open borders.

What's wrong with a guest worker program? You ever hear of the H1-b program? It's a scam that brings in foreigners to do jobs of which plenty of Americans are qualified to do. Thousands of them ended up getting displaced for cheap, slave labor.
The three stooges' bill would do the same thing except instead of high tech it would be construction, the service industry and just about every other job you can think of. And all Americans in every state would be affected by it. Talk about selling out your own people, these "legislators" need the boot the next time they come up for re-election.

Why can't we AZonians replace John McPain?
Because for the past 10 or 15 years, our state has been liberalized by libs fleeing CA and east-coasters coming here for the nice weather. Lots of Mid-westerners, too, who are libs.
We now have a 'Rat she(?)governor hand-picked by the klintons years ago to operate here in AZ, and a slim Republican majority in our State Houses.
I've been here since 1973 (thirty years!!) and it's absolutely heartbreaking to watch happen, and we can't stop it.

Oh, I forgot to mention the Gannett-owned monopoly "news" paper which pushes "migrant" issues and government programs 24/7. Uninformed people who don't get their real news from the 'Net or talk radio fall for what's "in the paper".
... and you can't tell the truth to the average reader of the AZ Republic (Repulsive, Repugnant) who eats it up like candy.

You didn't read my post, we're not talking about lettuce pickers, but construction, service industry, and every job you can think of that would qualify under this sham of a guest worker program. Not good for Americans struggling as it is to find decent paying work.
As soon as I see white Americans lining up to pick tomatos or hoe weeds in the fields of the Central Valley of California, I'll give credence to your beef.
When I was a kid this white boy and his friends worked on the mucks picking lettuce and tomatoes. In my part of the world where illegal aliens haven't invaded yet all the farm work is getting done by the locals. You're living in a dream world if you think we can't survive without millions of lawbreakers.

Well for starters the problem with guest worker bills is that they are not in fact 'guest' worker bills. Most proposed 'guest' worker bills, like the one proposed by the Arizona 3, include two provisions that most politicians are afraid to openly endorse:
1. They grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. Having to pay a fine doesn't change that. If an illegal is not forced to first return home, then get in line for legal immigration, then it is amnesty. These guys know a majority of Americans oppose amnesty, so they use deceptive language like 'earned legalization.'
2. The bill is in fact a massive increase in already mass levels of legal immigration. How so? Well what do most people think of when they hear the work 'guest?' It brings to mind a person who's stay is temporary. This bill, however, allows the 'guests' to gain permanent residency after x amount of time as a good guest. That is legal immigration, not a guest worker program. That alone will eventually increase legal immigration by hundreds of thousands per year, but that's not all. Once the guest become permanent residents, they will be eligible to sponsor their extended family through family reunification to legally immigrate as well. That will result in legal immigration levels skyrocketing to who knows how high. Again, most polls show a majority of Americans in favor of reducing legal immigration, while I've never seen a poll showing a majority in favor or increasing immigration.
Despite popular support for real immigration reform (ie reduction), it is not yet a top tier issue that people base their votes on. It also doesn't divide neatly along party lines. This allows the elites of society to keep in place an unwanted policy of mass immigration. But this could change of course, so the politicians are careful not to energize a popular uprising. This leaves them with a problem of how to unleash their agenda (which is amnesty for current illegals and to prevent future illegal immigration by massively increasing legal immigration) on the country without angering the electorate. Their solution is to package their true goals in a deceptively titled Guest Worker Trojan Horse.
So if the truth were told, this bill would be called; 'Legislation to Massively Increase Already Mass Levels of Legal Immigration and to Grant Amnesty to Millions of Illegal Aliens.'
And I didn't even address the issue of children born to 'guests' getting automatic citizenship like the childrent of illegals get.

Actually new legislation to allow them to stay will not be necessary. That is already a provision in the McCain/Flake/Kolby bill, as it is in almost every proposed bill. The radical ethnic interests groups demand it, and they get it.
