It is hard to have a relationship with a loving God when you put lies in His mouth, reject the letters He has sent you, and use His name when adressing and worshiping His most deranged enemy.

My dad would not be happy if I started calling Charles Manson "Pops", doing whatever old Charlie told me to, telling my siblings that dad is a fake and a liar, and blowing them up when they disagree with me. I think I would run out of grace real quick. My relationship in my dad's name would be with an imposter and I would have become filled with evil. There is no saving relationship there.

The grace comes from having a relationship with the correct person, not just hoping that you have picked the right one, not trusting that you have, but actually picking and trusting and developing a relationship with HIM.

On the other hand if I am somehow mistakenly thinking that my dad's name is Charles Manson, and I call him by that name, and I disagree that Charles Manson has done anything wrong because I know my father that he is not that type of person, I would have the wrong name, but I would see the right person and see his true character for myself. I would have a good relationship with the right person inspite of what everyone else thinks of that name.

I can have a relationship with the Creator and Redeemer thanks to His grace and mercy no matter what lies anyone says about Him or what name others call Him by. Without the relationship with the real Person there is no grace no matter what earthly good I may do. All my reghteousness, all my good works are as useless as filthy rags without the relationship. He has given His word to settle all honest questions, and to rile up everyone else. Many will say in the end that they have done great and mighty works in His name, but without the relationship, there will be no mercy.

It is all about what we do with His Son.

Is it not true that Jews', Christians' & Muslims' beliefs originate with the same Only True God, but the Muslims added Mohammed & changed everything? Aren't Muslims Ishmaelites? Just askin'.

Once the Koran was written all bets were off.

Well excuse you me oh grand exalted msytic high holy one.

Then explain to me the differences in the Nicene creed and catechism and which one trumps the other when they conflict as they do in this instance.

Sorry, read it wrong. It sounded like you meant Muhammed was the person they worship, which would be untrue.

My bad.

Of course the last sentence of 845 from your link seems to contradict 841.

845 To reunite all his children, scattered and led astray by sin, the Father willed to call the whole of humanity together into his Son's Church. The Church is the place where humanity must rediscover its unity and salvation. The Church is "the world reconciled." She is that bark which "in the full sail of the Lord's cross, by the breath of the Holy Spirit, navigates safely in this world." According to another image dear to the Church Fathers, she is prefigured by Noah's ark, which alone saves from the flood.334

"Outside the Church there is no salvation"

There are hidden assumptions in your reply, such as a presumtive conflict between the Nicene Creed and the Catholic Church Catechism.

I suggest you talk a priest or visit catholic.com

I don't have to but maybe you should.

I know what I believe in but you seem to want to elevate a killer cult to the same status as Catholicism and that my friend is not what I just read in the Catechism link.

Are you even Catholic? Or are you a hyphenated Catholic of some sort?

You know what? Who cares? You go to Allah along with your friends. I'll stick with Jesus.

You are not familiar with the basic Catholic teachings, so I will post them again in case you miss them.

Real the whole Catechism, and you will find that there is no real contradictions in the Catholic teachings.

Catholic Church Catechism

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION ON THE CHURCH LUMEN GENTIUM
SOLEMNLY PROMULGATED BY HOLINESS
POPE PAUL VI
ON NOVEMBER 21, 1964

16. Finally, those who have not yet received the Gospel are related in various ways to the people of God.(18*) In the first place we must recall the people to whom the testament and the promises were given and from whom Christ was born according to the flesh.(125) On account of their fathers this people remains most dear to God, for God does not repent of the gifts He makes nor of the calls He issues.(126); But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator.

In the first place amongst these there are the Mohamedans, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind

Everyone with faith also has a measure of doubt. It isn't faith which satisfies, but knowledge.

Sorry. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all spring from Abraham. I will grant that terrorists do not worship the same God, but Muslims can be very good people. I know some that are actually better people than some individuals who call themselves Christians.

Christianity is no guarantee of Heaven, if one only uses Christianity as a get out of Hell pass.

I've already read your link Mr. brain surgeon.
Read my post #546.

You've found one line in the Catechism supporting your opinion and you keep repeating it over and over while ignoring obvious contradictions that I've pointed out.

I don't think you're even Catholic. I think you're a Muslim cultist.

You don't seem to understand that the Catechism is not "infallible" and the Nicene Creed is.

I think someone sent you a link or you looked it up specifically for this thread because you don’t seem to know much about anything but your one line in 841.

Of course I’m sure you are aware of this since you know so much about Catholicism

La Civiltà Cattolica,” edited by a group of Jesuits in Rome, is a very special magazine. Every one of its articles is reviewed by the Vatican secretary of state before publication. So the magazine reflects his thought faithfully.

In its October 18 edition, “La Civiltà Cattolica” published a strikingly severe article on the condition of Christians in Muslim countries. The central thesis of the article is that “in all of its history, Islam has shown a warlike and conquering face”; that “for almost a thousand years, Europe lived under its constant threat”; and that what remains of the Christian population in Islamic countries is still subjected to “perpetual discrimination,” with episodes of bloody persecution.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Catechism change in a few years.

Catechism is after all a “living document” and subject to change.

Savor your one line while you can.

True, while I disagree with the Pres on this one, I agree with Corin. The President is no theologian and shouldn't be expected to be. That doesn't mean he can't grow.

It's obvious to me that God and allah are not the same. One is real and the other is make believe.

HI new member here, mad as hell after watching the video of the london protest. SO I am not going to mince words, I hope the President remembers that it was a MUSLIM, not a Christian that flew a plane into the twin towers.it is MUSLIMS, not Christians making homemade bombs and killing US troops in Iraq, It is MUSLIMS, not Christians who blow themselves up in Israeli schools and restaurants.

MY God is not their God.

I can forgive the President, but I am still PO'ed.

So you would say Jesus is NOT the Son of God? Come on! You know Jesus is the Son of God. How can he be the Son of God and God too?

Err, no offense meant buddy, but the Catholic church I was raised in still has us profess the Nicene Creed every Sunday. Has it been a while since you've professed it? "One God" "One baptism" "We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ","one holy catholic and apostolic church".

Does not seem to leave much doubt now does it?

Well, buddy, Jews don't believe in the Nicene Creed either. So if you're saying that Muslims and Christians don't worship the same God because of the Nicene Creed, then by your logic, neither do Jews and Christians worship the same God.

Then how do you explain John 5:23 "He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him." (NKJ) ... Muslims obviously don't believe we worship the same God.

Jews don't honor the Son. So if you're saying that Muslims and Christians don't worship the same God because Muslims don't honor the Son, then by your logic, neither do Jews and Christians worship the same God.

I think we all do.
