I was watching the Tony Blair and President Bush press conference and an American reporter asked a question on the lines of do you believe Muslims and Christians worship the same God.
President Bush said that Christians and Muslims worship the same God!!!!
As many as man can imagine PLUS ONE.
The apostle Paul, in Romans 1:19-20, indicates that the existence of God may be deduced from the observation of nature. The approach that many Christian apologists, such as Thomas Aquinas, have taken in this matter is to use evidence of orderliness in the universe, benevolence toward humans and other life on this planet, etc., to point out the absurdity of not believing in the existence of God.
But of course, all that these arguments support is the improbability of the universe being organized via random chance. It does not prove the claims made by the Bible of God's character, His Triune nature, or the unique role of Jesus Christ. That comes from accepting the Bible as true because it is God's Word and thus reliable in these matters.
So say you. I believe differently.
Even the nation cannot be seen directly.
Sure it can. It cannot be viewed in its entirety but it can definitely be experienced directly.
I read the Bible as an atheist and I didn't think it proved God, it just showed that people believed in Him. You will find God when throw out everything you know about God and you discover the true meaning of "Grace".
Islam is a cult and false religion. For President Bush to make a statement as this is a slap in the face to many citizens of the respective states who are ChristianIt's not a "slap" to Roman Catholics. Lumen Gentium, the "Dogmatic Constitution of the Church" recognizes Islam as believing in the same God as Christians. Pope John Paul II has also reiterated this point on numerous occasions.

Interesting. For me, the existence of God or a god or a deity can be demonstrated to some degree by sheer logic. I am, however an agnostic- meaning, to this point, it has not been demonstrated (to me) in the natural world. But a certain portion of myself assumes that there must be something out there that would fit the bill of "deity" even if it would not conform to our terrestrial religious documents.

PRESIDENT BUSH: I do say that freedom is the Almighty's gift to every person. I also condition it by saying freedom is not America's gift to the world. It's much greater than that, of course. And I believe we worship the same God.
And how would it demonstrate this without being able to demonstrate the existence of their deity?
It seems to me that to follow your line of argument one must allow that the Muslims do indeed worship a real deity and then one can easily demonstrate that it is not the same deity as the one the Christians/Jews/Hindus etc worship. But this also assumes the existence of these other deities as well. Fair enough, but were we to assume all these things, would we not be left with many deities? I can't find the demonstration of even one deity, much less a dozen.
If the is a single God of the Universe, then all religions worship the same God.
If God is defined by the beliefs of the culture, then all religions will have a different God.
What is your definition of God?

I still do."This leaves absolutely zero doubt:Err, no offense meant buddy, but the Catholic church I was raised in still has us profess the Nicene Creed every Sunday. Has it been a while since you've professed it? "One God" "One baptism" "We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ","one holy catholic and apostolic church".
Does not seem to leave much doubt now does it?
