Streaming video link above.

Marine air over the area right now, so it's not clear, but it will burn off soon.

Yep, they're nice. I miss the Blue Angels. A few years back they would hold the airshow at the airport and they had the "Shockwave Triple engine Jet Truck"

The big truck had older WE34-48 engines in them.

Funny!

Yep... I have seen the Blue Angels many times.

I went to an airshow this last summer here at the Air Force Base and the Thunderbirds were there... Also got to see the stealth fighter which was a real treat.

Missed the little teams in the little biplanes at a mostly military show... I like the little guys in their Pitts and Wacos.

Cool to see, but I've always been more impressed by the Blue Angels. Sorta sounds like like heresy from a USAF vet, right.

If you like aircraft and great aerobatic shows, go to Lakeland Florida, April 13 - 19, 2004 for Sun-n-Fun.

I haven't been to that one for a long time. Last time was 1981 and I think it was named something different at the time. And they had Blue Angels, no T Birds.

One of those teams (was it French Connection or the Canadian team [snowbirds?]?) that crashed/died within the past year.

It was the Canadian Snowbirds that crashed this summer.

The French Connection team both crashed and died during a practice flight in Florida about two years ago.

Thats right! I had forgotten about that crash. IIRC it was either right before or right after an airshow in Florida?

WE34-48's (Westinghouse) used in Korean War conflict. Low bypass, single spool. It's what the students at ERAU tear down/rebuild/test for class. Had some Saudi princes' fail the class, offered to "reward" me for giving them a passing grade. Boy, were they ever unhappy not knowing their fate.

I knew it was close by to me, about 20 miles. I had forgotten about that.
It was right after the Fly In in Lakeland.

Nah - not heresy. I like the Blue Angels better, and I used to be in the engine shop that did all the heavy maintenance for the T-Birds at Nellis. The Blue Angels put on a kick-ass show.

LOL - sounds like some of the ones we had at Chanute for engine school.
