[history]
Comparing a civil rights icon to hunters' rights, rock star and hunter Ted Nugent turned up the volume Tuesday on a perennial campaign to legalize mourning-dove hunting in Michigan.
Nugent was among those who exhorted several hundred hunters and gun-rights advocates on the Capitol lawn to lobby lawmakers. Three hours later, the House responded by passing a bill to end the state's 98-year ban on hunting mourning doves, which are valued by many for their docile nature and cooing song.

Please help me understand how invoking Rosa Park's name helps the cause of us hunters and gun owners.

aww...I kind of like mourning doves. Have a back yard full of them. They are very nice birds; they don't trash the place like grackles or starlings.
So...what do they taste like?

They abound out here...we also have a September season, but it seems the redtail hawks score more of 'em than the local hunters.

Hunters are tired of sitting in the back of the bus.

Hunting is a god given right as well as owning a weapon.

Leave Ted alone. Nugent means well.
Off topic- due to high cholesteral- I can only eat non fatty meats. That means Venison, Ostrich, Moose, Wild Turkey, and Buffolo (and all the Sardines I can stomach). It is easier to find than you might think. My brothers and I are thinking of taking up Wild Turkey hunting- they are all over the place just 45 minutes outside of Boston.

Those groups, including the politically powerful National Rifle Association, view dove hunting as a way to recruit more young people to hunting ranks, and thus to sustain hunting and support for gun rights in the future. And what a tasty little bit of agitprop this sentence is! Those dastardly NRA people are recruiting our young people! First it'll be doves, then Bambi, then the blood-maddened kiddies will be after good ol' Yogi! The horror! The horror!
Not much meat on these little buggers, but it's delicate and fat-free. I'm only thinking of my health, you know.

You ain't lived till you've all but stepped on a covey of quail only to have them take flight right under your nose; that warm feeling down the inside of your leg gets real uncomfortable about an hour later.
