Since I got up at 830 Am this morning all I have heard on news is the death of our soldiers today. In fact its so much I would be led to believe if i was not a news watcher that today was the 1st death of one of our soldiers.

Freepers comment away. And do so knowing your loving media is reading : )

Eventhough the "nay-sayers" and pro-terrorist protestors in the US and overseas will have a field day with today's disheartening news, such guerilla activity displayed by the former Baathists/other ISLAMIC terrorists was to be expected eventually. However, something does need to be done immediately to stop these hit-and-run attacks that are slowly bleeding our military efforts in the rebuilding of Iraq. We must stay the course, finish the task of rebuilding, and send a clear message to the haters of democracy and freedom that the United States will not "cut and run" and allow Saddam Hussein to retake power.

Agree totally and hope you saw the bitter sarcasm in my post. I am normally not a vanity poster but I felt some good comments like yours could come out of this thread.

Nothing is more important than the death of a soldier in combat conditions. If it takes his death to reach the front page, he has paid the price for that recognition. I don't care if the reader is for or against the war, a death has to be treated as the sacrifice that is being made. Not only that, the families have to be considered as to the sacrifice they are making. For every soldier killed there are a number of family members whose life will never be the same. Pray for them as well as the departed and wounded.

No it's the plight of poor Scott Peterson. Is there really anybody out there other than Gloria Allred concerned about Scott's trial.

While obviously we all mourn the loss of life of our brave soldiers, but when we put it in perspective, there is a different story, which is not being told. We took over a country, deposed a vicious dictator -- who may have murdered thousands of our civilians, given the chance --, people were predicting 50,000 to 100,000 US military casualties, and we have lost about 300 in the major conflict and since then.

Compare that with the 3000 killed on 9-11-2001.

Or just compare it to the traffic fatality statistics in the US: 42,815 in 2002.

Traffic statistics

And 16,110 people were murdered in the U.S. during 2002.

US Murder Statistics

I would say that we are doing remarkably well in Iraq.

A patriotic "amen" to your comments about our brave soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice today. As the national anthem was played before today's NASCAR race in Phoenix, AZ and the flight of F-16's from nearby Luke AFB flew overhead, I couldn't help but think of those brave souls and get a little "misty-eyed". God bless them all!

Well said. Each soldier death is tragic no doubt however on scale its an amazing figure.

It shall be interesting to watch how the usual suspects exploit the deaths of our beloved soldiers today.

Yes, I did take notice of the sarcasm, but eventhough I am totally behind the war effort and rebuilding in Iraq, this attack today was pretty discouraging. But you know all too well that the anti-war media will have a field day with today's tragic news. Thanks for the post.

I agree: we need know and to respect our fallen soldiers.

But what absolutely disgusts me is the barely concealed, juvenile glee with which the press reports each incident.

This is especially true for the NY Times, which is suddenly running tear-jerker pieces about our dead, when we all know those latte sipping same-sex groping fa----s have nothing but sneering contempt for the families of our soldiers and their values at any other time.

Pre war I thought the saddam loyalists would get one major attack off. They did not. While today is difficut knowing what the liberals will do with it is more difficult and I am sickened.

I am feeling blessed that our President does not feed on the liberal media.

I am grateul that someone else has been noticing the smirking and stifled giggles...I was afraid I was imagining it.

Sometimes people talk of Society collapsing into anarchy, then going after the favorite hated group..You know, politicians, lawyers, tax collectors.

Do me a favor:

If this ever happens, can I have the Press and Media?

I hope our military has a special "surprise" for the jeering, er cheering crowds the next time they attack US. Quick, can't find the perp? I guess we're going to have to....

Now, I wonder what Scott Petersen and Amber Frey has to say about all this. Maybe Gephardt's special daughter has some profound thoughts on this subject?

"I'm confused. It's not All Kobe, All the Time™?"

...I've noticed, until very recently that Robert Blake isn't getting his fair and balanced share of coverage. Why isn't the media interviewing his cousin's daughter's gardner's friend's uncle about his case?
