1. ADVOCATES, PLEASE HELP! Sign Petition

Please copy and print out the following petition to the U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft seeking his assistance in saving Terri Schindler Schiavo. To help her, after signing it with your name and full address, please mail it in by US Mail today!

We are requesting that you send it to both Attorney General John Ashcroft and the Disability Rights Section of the Justice Department. Here are both addresses:

U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft U.S. Department of Justice 950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20530-0001

and also please call by phone at: Office of the Attorney General - 202-353-1555

There ARE email addresses to send emails to these departments, but we are asking for actual hard copy petitions to be sent by US Mail to the Justice Department/Attorney General.

If you can also send them to the Disability Rights Section, that would be helpful:

U.S. Department of Justice 950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Civil Rights Division Disability Rights Section - NYAV Washington, D.C. 20530

You can also phone Chief of the Disability Rights Section, John L. Wodatch, at: (202) 307-2227 Fax: (202) 307-1198

Keep the pressure on to save Terri!

This is an entirely different pettion. You have to print it out sign and mail it. I wouldn't start a new thread on the same thing. This is free. All it takes is a little effort.

FReegards

P.S. I do not profit financially from anything on FR. I responded to the person who had the problem and asked them to let me know if the overcharges are straightened out. Besides, petitions cost nothing to sign. Faxing them is where the problem was.

This petition will cost you .74 cents in postage if you mail one to Ashcroft and one to the Justice Dept.

Correct me if I'm wrong, slimer .. Terri is now on Medicaid, a Federal program. According to Federal regulations, Federal funds cannot be used for assisted suicide, euthanasia, or mercy killing. Terri is in a Hospice, another Federal program that is in place .. if the patient is deemed terminally ill and is expected to die within six months.

Something's not right here .. have you looked into this angle? The Federal courts sent Terri back to State, saying they have no jurisdiction, but under the Medicaid program, doesn't she come under the protection of the Federal government? Does anyone know where best to raise this issue?

By the way, this information has been given to the family ...
