Why gripe? Its a reasonable business decision in any middle sized market, and Rush doesn't have an entitlement outside of his contractual provisions.
If 50% of that audience remains after 30 days, I'll be amazed - in which case, stations will abandon him in droves.

If Rush loses 50% or his audience, he will still be the biggest hitter in the line-up. There will not be an exodus. The only way Rush loses out is if the quality of his show drops off on his return. If he maintains his on air presence and personality, this will only be a speed bump.

With all due respect, that's delusional. I'd bet large coin that Rush will lose NO MORE than 10-15% of his audience.
After all, who else is there to compete with him?

Prepare to be amazed. One time Rush was gone 2 weeks and his ratings dropped less than 8% in three local markets I know of.

You're right. If Rush chooses such second stringers as Sullivan and Hedgecock who quickly become boring to listen to, then this is going to be the result. There's many other choices in my market at that hour. Rush needs to hire some live wires such as Laura Ingraham or Ann Coulter or Dornan or Drudge or Dennis Miller. I don't even care if he gets a liberal, which he's done in the past. I love Walter Williams. There's a man who doesn't agree with Rush on everything, but he's always interesting.
