"I actually went to a memorial service thinking it would be a memorial service. I will never, ever attend another funeral unless it's held in a church." - Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura quoted in New York Times (Nov. 4, 2002) after he departed early from a Democratic Party political rally advertised as a memorial service for Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone.

Ventura wanted Barkely to be in the Monday debate with Mondale and Coleman. Right now, Governor Ventura and his staff, and the Secretary of State are trying to figure out if Dean Barkely will serve Minnesota in the Senate for just a couple of weeks, or until January with the start of a new legislative session.

I just found out today that in Minnesota, voters can register at their polling place, then step into the voting booth.
