New York City's famous George Washington Monument in Washington Square Park was defaced with red paint on Monday as protesters gathered further downtown outside City Hall ahead of a controversial vote that could slash the city's police budget by $1billion - 16 percent of its total - despite escalating crime and chaos.
In the latest symbol of police defiance and unruliness across the city, the vandals tossed red paint at the famous George Washington monument on Monday then fled the scene, leaving city workers to try to power wash it off.
President Trump tweeted on Tuesday: 'We are tracking down the two Anarchists who threw paint on the magnificent George Washington Statue in Manhattan. We have them on tape. They will be prosecuted and face 10 years in Prison based on the Monuments and Statues Act. Turn yourselves in now!'

Cuomo, De Blasio and their rabid, government-bureaucrat, leftist-activist governing alliance seem blithely unaware that NY State and City finances are extremely precarious and top-heavy. 64% of the State’s revenue comes from income taxes, and more than 1/4 of that comes from a few hundred super-wealthy Wall Street players. The State and city’s population loss in 2019 was already the highest in the nation.
Encouraging BLM and riots is just the thing that will push them over the fiscal edge.

This is so sad. I loved the Arch and spent many a happy moment in Washington Square Park when I was a teenager escaping from high school. Or even later, as an adult, just going down there to sit, walk around, read, etc.

I love the city but the great majority of the voters (not all I know) are some of the most self-abusive in the world. The city will probably get worse and DeBlasio and every democrat in the city, including congresspeople, Schumer and Gillibrand could literally give the city the middle finger on TV and internet and the drones would still vote 85% democrat.
Some of the most stubborn electorate in the world. I just don’t know what it is that makes that city stick to the democrats so stubbornly.
So the democrat politicians there don’t really care. The city can literally be destroyed, nursing home residents killed by Cuomo and Ocasio drive Amazon out of the city and they’ll still vote for them. Heck Ocasio won her primary by a bigger margin than her first term in 2018.

I pray that he wins all 50 states, I know that that is not going to happen but I can dream. I also pray that we take the House and gain over the 60 seats in the Senate. Sweep the governors in more states and take most all of the states seats also. I want the Dems defeated into the next millenia……
Okay, I’ll admit there are a few from the NYC area who are salvageable, but most aren’t. Same as the western parts of California, Oregon, and Washington.

Not to be argumentative but they are probably aware but don’t care. Ocasio drove out Amazon HQ from there and she won her primary by a BIGGER margin than 2018.
When DeBlasio closed the parks in Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn I believe, while allowing the protests, a Jewish publication there was criticizing DeBlasio. Not sure if they represented the majority but most of the commenters on the story criticized the author defending DeBlasio.
Democrats can do no wrong in the minds of the majority of NYC voters. And I love the city.
