Letter: Straight talk about Trump vote
The Fayetteville Observer ^ | June 30, 2018 | Gerard Keogh

Posted on 06/30/2018 1:47:48 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Kudos to Mary Zahran (“Are Trump haters really Trump helpers?” June 24) for her fortitude in broaching what seems to be a verboten subject. But I will go further than she does. I voted for Trump. I readily concede his tactless manner, his ego, his vulgarity. But I was not voting for that woman of a thousand excuses why she lost under any circumstances. If you are irate or enraged by this statement, then 2020 gives you an ample opportunity to banish Trump back to Trump Tower.

I am not a white supremacist. I am not a Nazi. Regarding all those pious priests, ministers and commentators who too quickly pronounce me as one on television, I respond with this: The Eighth Commandment condemns the sins of slander and calumny without incontrovertible proof. In fact, in Catholic school, I was taught that such sins proclaimed loudly and incessantly in public qualify as mortal sins. Christ himself refers to these sins and lying in general as emanating directly from the devil. So we can include this in any discussion about any alleged hypocrites in the Christian religion, yet no one is going to limit my public access or my private right to my own opinions by surrounding me and screeching profanities from unruly gatherings that evoke the French Revolution. I will not be intimidated or laid a hand on. Anger/rage (which is still one of the original Seven Deadly Sins) will find a poor choice of a victim here.

#metoo. If the rats hadn’t run Hillary in 2016,I would have stayed home. So glad I was wrong. Trump is the best president of my life and had restored my hope that a political solution is still possible.

Hubert Humphrey was the last Democrat I can honestly say I wouldn’t have been ashamed of to have him as the Commander in Chief.

In 2016, I voted for Trump because he was the most Conservative candidate who had a chance to win.

I will vote to reelect Trump in 2020 - for the same reason.

“I’ve never seen an elected official work so hard to keep his campaign promises.”

Before Pres. Trump was sworn in, one of the Fox hosts (might have been Lou Dobbs) asked a guest who worked on Wall Street and knows Trump — what do our viewers need to know about Mr. Trump that they might not know already?

The man got very serious and replied (paraphrasing here): “Look, I work 60, 80 hour weeks. So does everyone I know. The thing is — Trump makes us look like wimps. I have never seen a person who works so hard, for such long hours. I can guarantee you he will be the hardest-working President you have ever seen.”

Trump is the movement. He’s given America a few years. After Trump it’s over. Some will do nothing and exist, others will do something and be killed.

Is that some kind of joke? LOL.

If the Republican Party were to dump Donald Trump in 2020, he'd run as a Democrat.

And he'd win.

Remember he told Mrs Bill, “You’d be in jail!” I think hat was a campaign promise, actually. If I am right she will be in jail, not immediately by any means, but by the end of the first year of Trump’s second term. Or she will be out of the country in a place with no extradition treaty, Tunisia maybe? or one of her many serious ailments will have done for her.

I was appalled by Trump’s manner until the light came on and I understood what he was doing. Cruz’s response to DJT’s verbal trashing showed me what was what. Trump showed that Cruz was not psychologically equipped to stand up to the Democrats.

No he wouldn’t. He’d run if he wanted to as an independent

Your comment shows how little you know

I agree with you and might go a step farther. He represents Republicans who are sick of the status quo, too.

Both party establishments had “insurgents” who railed against the “bosses”. And the GOP-e had picked our candidates in 1968, 1972, 1976, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012.

I would say the DC Beltway Republicans DID NOT want our 1964, 1980 (and by extension 1984) or 2016 nominees.

Yet here we are. DJT won, and now they have to at least show some fealty to him. (McInsane, Flake and a few others aside.)

The stronger our party gains majorities in the House and Senate in this mid-term will go a long long way in making the Republicans LESS “beltway” and more “American”. Who knows what’ll happen after Trump leaves in January of 2025?

Fix it now. We’ll worry about later later.

I was with Trump from day one for these reasons:

1. He spent his own money, put your money where your mouth is.
2. He laid out his goals day one, and everyone disagreed with those goals.
3. He never deviated from those despite ‘the experts’.
4. He could not be swooned by power, notoriety, or wealth (he already had that). Which meant less likely to be corrupted.
5. Narcissistic...maybe...but more importantly, Trump NEVER likes to lose. Very evident by his history and accomplishments.

Based on this list, I believed that Trump has to the ‘best’ at anything he attempts. So he states his tasks, “media, swamp, isis, wall, economy, immigration, etc.” Knowing that his presidency will be judged by these tasks and more, failing was not an option for Trump. I liked his to-do list ;). I also like pragmatism, problem solving, and critical thinking. He has all of these traits.

Added bonus was reversing the PC culture, media cesspool, and unmasking soooo many faux conservatives so the blind could finally wake up. I always knew most were fake. How? Because for 30 years nothing was ever fixed. Remember, a real solution to a problem is conservative (pragmatic). A liberal solution is packed with alterior motives, causes other problems, and passes around more cash and power.
