Independent voters are crucial in politics.
Palin did hurt McCain a bit with her “Hockey mom” talk.
She was a plus and a minus on the ticket.
Lieberman could have won FL, NV, CO, NH because Independent voters would have liked Lieberman.
However, the McCain-Palin ticket could not win after Sept. 15, 2008.
Why Sept 15 2008?
She was a plus on the ticket. Always. The problem was the lame duck Bush White House, who assisted candidate Obama during the financial meltdown, but did nothing to assist Palin, who had to switch campaigns mid stream from “the surge is working” to dealing with the economic meltdown.
And it was a very very strange meltdown at that. One trade and the market crashed. Was it Soros? Was it Mitt? Was it a RINO DeepState personage?
And of course, the McCain staffers were former Jeb and W Bush people sabotaging Palin from within.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, these were truly treasonous acts against Palin.
The same DeepStateRINOBushes attacking Trump attacked Palin.
McCain-Soreloserman. Would have gone over like a lead brick.
Palin boosted McCain’s numbers by probably 15%, maybe more. I distinctly remember him getting an almost immediate 8-10 point bump.
She is the only thing that kept him from getting blown out. Had he selected Lieberman, he would have lost by 25-30 points.
Of course, McCain’s ego won’t ever let him admit that.
You cannot be serious.

Who can say for sure? He might have gained some Independents and lost some of the base for no real difference in the outcome.
Total horse shit. Go take your meds.
OTOH, Lieberman would have solidified the Muzzie vote for Obama. After all, it’s been said that the reason why so many Muslims voted for Bush over Gore was because the latter had a Jew for his VP candidate.
This is nonsense, respectfully.
Lieberman was a Kennedy liberal who had been manhandled by Dick Cheney in the 2000 debate. His nomination would have led to a walkout on the Convention floor, probably engineered by the very Bushies who were quietly assisting the Obama Campaign.
Palin was the right choice, and is wise to remain silent during McCains passing.
Absolutely ridiculous.
What are you doing on this site?
This IS Free Republic.
Romney won the so-called "Independent Voters" by five points and still lost miserably. The base is far more important, and McCain would have missed it entirely without Governor Palin.
Republicans lose when they chase to the left. Thankfully the elusive "Independent Voter" is all but extinct in this county. Goodbye and good riddance!

Of course, in his campaign he did praise the attributes and manliness of our future x-president. “He’s a good, decent man” Lying to little old ladies way back then. The old coot never changes his tune.
It’s rather challenging to kill the old fart with kindness.
Just because he has an "I" behind his name doesn't make him an Independent. He's always been a democrat and endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016........
McCain would have lost worse if Loserman had been his running mate.....
