Viewing the world through the eyes of a Trump supporter: Neil Macdonald
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ^ | October 17, 2017 | Neil Macdonald

Aside from the sesquipedalian Conrad Black – who puzzles me, because his own manners are impeccable and he generally loathes ignorant boorishness – just about every serious writer in the mainstream media regards President Donald Trump with disgust.

Even Charles Krauthammer, whose ferociously controlled savagery toward liberals sets him apart from even his fellow columnists on the right, has called Trump a moral disgrace, among other things.

Trump's fans are right: the coverage of their champion is utterly unbalanced. Not that there is anything wrong with that; "balance" is just relativism dressed in evening clothes.

But it's always fascinating to flip the telescope around. I've been trying a little mind experiment: seeing things as a sincere Trump supporter. Here goes:

Typical lamestream media

Well, I suppose it was just a matter of time. The lamestream media is comparing President Trump to disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. Honestly.

Never mind the decades of liberal silence about a monster-sized predator, just because he squawked liberal noises, at least in public.

Now that they've stampeded, as they do, to a suddenly fashionable position, and Weinstein is evil, which he is, he must — must — have something in common with the president. It's a set piece liberal syllogism.

Yes, Donald Trump used some foolish, rough language when he thought no one was listening. Who hasn't?

Have some women complained? Well, one has sued, and her accusations haven't been tested, and there are rumours of other, anonymous women. Rumours.

Police are not conducting a criminal investigation into the allegations, and Trump does not stand accused of rape, as Weinstein, and yes, sorry, Bill Clinton both do.

As far as we know, the president hasn't paid women hush money (can you imagine?)....

To his credit, his analysis is mostly correct.

this bird is about as far left a journo as is imaginable...he was all in for Justin Trudeau....but..for some reason... he is starting to expose the soft Liberal Media underbelly....something is happening folks and it is not a one off...it is the rumbling of a revolution against our biased media propaganda movement by a huge, biased, state owned information machine.

A lot of this is an indication of how far establishment types, whether Krauthammer, Will, or much of the GOP, have strayed from the basic understanding and embracing of true freedom. Popular culture is generally clueless about freedom. Krauthammer and Co. are on the same wayward boat as the DNC, they’re just in the back of the boat complaining about where the DNC is taking them but nevertheless, are still willing passengers.

America (AND the Constitution) is about MUCH LESS government and MUCH MORE individual freedom. Establishment types have lost their love of freedom and seem to distrust it. Why?

Because obtaining and retaining freedom takes faith. Faith in God is needed more than anything because without faith, we lose freedom as we gradually have over the last 117 years.

We are in the midst of a Grace Revolution around the world. The Grace Revolution may very well bring about another Spiritual Awakening which will usher in a period of cutting the unconstitutional 80% portion of the feds. I pray it will happen very soon

Are wolves now sleeping with sheep? Has the sun begun to rise in the West and set in the East? Comrade Neil (Vladimir Ilych) MacDonald actually making sense and not spouting the CCCPBC party line? A ‘sign of the end times’?

My jaw is still smarting from striking the keyboard!

One of the biggest CBC hitmen shows signs of mental life.

Jordan Peterson still has a job at U 0f T.

You’re right - Canada may be about to have another populist outburst!

Why not? We’ve got lots of experience.

This is quite interesting. It also reminds me of Debate class. The highest score I got on a debate was when I debated against my personal position.

The comical part is that I changed my own mind by doing pretty much what this guy did.

‘Course, I was only 18 at the time.

Or, “the sesquipedalian prose of op-eds that use the word “sesquipedalian”.

I can’t tell if this guy is serious, or if he is being ironic.

Every time I see something about the CBC, it reminds me of that hate-filled coverage of Election Night 2016.
Talk about MSNBC & the alphabet networks? Nothing I've ever watched on TV compares to the pure, unadulterated hostility and bitterness I saw that night, especially from the black woman on their panel.

“whether hawkish Hillary ... is really a liberal (a question I’d like to ask Susan Sarandon)”

ROTFLOL!

A liberal with a sense of humor! Fancy that!

“I can’t tell if this guy is serious, or if he is being ironic.”

no, he’s seriously (and accurately) portraying Trump supporters. He’s portraying them saying the exact same things we say here, and he is not being patronizing. In fact, if you think carefully about his depictions, Trump supporters come across as broadly knowledgeable about current, recent, and past politics.

quite frankly i see almost none of that from the leftist posts at WaPo and other similar venues - the VAST majority of leftist posts are never anything more than juvenile name-calling, yet another reason i don’t give WaPo any clicks. It does make me wonder though about what the honchos and “journalists” at WaPo must think about their readership and the quality of the left in general - maybe those juvenile posts are what they themselves REALLY think about Trump ...
