She aired her breakthrough ad in Nevada in which she hugged a Dreamer. She had no ad with an autoworkers daughter.
I got to the line below and disagreed so strongly I almost stopped reading.
“She believed...that America is dynamic, growing, and progressing, and now needs an economy that truly leaves no one behind. Inequality has worsened, but the answer is building ladders of opportunity,...”
If you read the entire article what comes across is that the entire campaign was focused on special interest groups. Its intent was to fool the middle class to go ahead and vote for them, but there was no focus on anything the middle class was concerned about. If you talk about racism, LGBT, rainbows, women, etc. and don’t talk about coal miners and wage earners except as brief general references, what is the middle class voter supposed to take away from that? The campaign might mention millionaires and billionaires and how horrible they are, but what does that mean to somebody working the register at McDonalds? Besides, even the register-operator knew Hillary was getting big bucks to make twenty minute speeches to those very same millionaires and billionaires. That register operator has a brain.
“Since Hillary was soaking in big money...”
Exactly. There was a reason all those big corporate chieftains were supporting her. They knew that once elected, she would do their bidding - and they even said so openly (see Hank Paulson). So as you say, how could she denounce them?
This article is myopic as far as the big donors to the Democrat Party are concerned. Facing up to middle class issues meant crossing the big donors. So she had to tread gingerly on stuff upsetting the middle class and focus on identity politics, “the Russians,” etc. - get her votes that way.
She lost because America , at its core , is a good country and Hillary is evil.
They didn't misjudge. President Trump's victory was outside the margin of fraud. They just couldn't cheat any more and get away with it, so America survived. For now.
