De Blasio contradicts Trump on Paris deal at G20 protest

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) on Saturday pushed back on President Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate accords, noting that some U.S. cities plan to honor the agreement despite Trump's decision.

"American cities are signed on to the Paris Accords. We will do it ourselves," de Blasio said, according to a spokesman who was tweeting his speech at the “Hamburg Zeigt Haltung” rally.

De Blasio is in Germany for events surrounding the Group of 20 summit, where Trump and other world leaders have gathered to address topics including climate change.

Every member of the global group except the U.S. reaffirmed the agreement during this week's summit, according to The Associated Press.

De Blasio signed an executive order in June reaffirming New York City’s commitment to the agreement.

“We here in New York City are shocked at the development this week in Washington, D.C., to see the president of the United States pull out of the Paris accord and literally set this nation, and the whole globe, on the path of denial,” he said.

The New York City mayor is one of 347 U.S. mayors to uphold the climate agreement, according to the group Climate Mayors.

Trump said he made the decision to pull the U.S. from the nearly 200 nation deal in order to protect jobs.

“The Paris climate accord is simply the latest example of Washington entering into an agreement that disadvantages the United States to the exclusive benefit of other countries, leaving American workers — who I love — and taxpayers to absorb the cost in terms of lost jobs, lower wages, shuttered factories, and vastly diminished economic production,” he said in June.

Prominent critics have spoken out against the decision, including former President Barack Obama, who said Trump’s rejection of the deal means “a small handful of nations that reject the future.”

Maybe he should run for the presidency if he wants the powers that go with it.

And I wonder how much it will cost those cities to be a member of the Paris deal? And will the pittance they do have any effect? As the US air is cleaner than 4-5 decades ago we are already leading the world, especially when one considers the number of coal fired electricity plants being built in China, India and other ‘third world’ countries. Of course some are still cooking with cattle dung, that pollutes worse than coal, or so I’ve heard.

It sounds like the taxpayers in 347 cities can expect to see their taxes soar. I know they’re going to really appreciate that.

DeBalsio has absolutely no legal standing in these foreign matters. None. The guy is a freaking idiot.

Somebody lock him in a room and make him read the Constitution, give him a test, and don't let him out until he passes the test. Since he is in government, he should pass the test 100% and keep him locked up until he does.

Here, DeBalsio, I'll even help.

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation...No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power. --U.S. Const. Art. I, Sec. 10, Cl. 1 &3

He can make these stupid proclamations because he knows they don’t mean anything and he won’t be held accountable.

The power to ratify treaties is reserved to the Senate. Period. Not cities. Not states. Not Obama. The Senate.

These cities are already economic basket cases. They are welcome to drive the stakes further into the hearts of their economies.

They cannot be salvaged with any Constitutional or Democratic method.

The same can well be said for the whole nation. Trump is buying us a hiatus for a few years as Reagan did but the Trump Hiatus will not have the quarter century duration that Reagan gave us. The education system has educated several more generations and there are not sufficient voters left to reverse the damage. It would require a dictatorial approach from the top to turn it around. The Boss would have to eliminate, not defund or reduce but eliminate the agencies of the Federal Government that have anything to do with the Education system including grants of any sort and any other aid to colleges. Teachers' colleges would have to be shut down and teachers hired on their merits otherwise. Graduation from a teachers' college cannot be any criterion for employment of a teacher for at least ten years.

Di blasio imagines himself as the leader of the anarchist revolution. He, plus bammy and the hil, want to topple Trump. They all want to be the new leader who emerges after Trump is impeached, and to lead this country into a new era of full marxism.

De Blasio signed an executive order in June reaffirming New York City’s commitment to the agreement.

That EO has no force of law and is utterly unconstitutional, thus, null and void - with possible criminal penalties.

Let's remind De Blasio of the Constitution again...

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation...No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power. --U.S. Const. Art. I, Sec. 10, Cl. 1 &3

Maybe we should remind De Blasio and the mostly impotent GOP of the Logan Act...

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both. --18 U.S. Code § 953 - Private correspondence with foreign governments (The Logan Act).

Typical commie liberal. All talk and no do.

He can claim all day long that New York City is supporting the Paris deal but it was all about money from the US taxpayer going to the global elites to use as they saw fit. DeBalsio doesn't have a dime to give away. He's got no money for NYC let alone for the Paris climate elite.

DeBlasio can't do anything to alter the course that Trump has set and that is to stop giving our money to these climate scammers.
