Override Commutation & Reinstate Chelsea Manning's sentence to 35 years
1/29/17 | Intellignt1

Chelsea Manning was convicted of leaking classified information (up to 700,000 documents) obtained while serving as an Army intelligence analyst that included diplomatic cables and troop locations, to the Wiki-Leaks website .

House Speaker Paul Ryan described President Obama’s move as “outrageous” and “a dangerous precedent that those who compromise our national security won’t be held accountable for their crimes,” and that “Manning’s treachery put American lives at stake and exposed some of our most sensitive secrets.

We are a nation of laws and the laws need to be upheld. What Chelsea Manning did was treasonous and the commutation by President Obama sets a wrong and dangerous precedent for our nation.

Manning needs to serve the full 35 year sentence for the crimes committed

Some of the criminals that Hussein 0bama let out, were probably a lot safer and would've had longer life spans if they stayed behind bars, just sayin'.

I'm not a lawyer but it's hard for me to imagine how the commutation can be reversed.I wonder if there's anything he's done that he hasn't yet been charged with.If so he could be tried for that....court martial!

It's a fait accompli so there is no reversing it. It's in the constitution.

While I agree that Bradley should have served the whole term, it would be unseemly for Trump to do other than call him the traitor he is and actually take action to keep him imprisoned. He’ll probably have a lousy life with his record and his mental illness that makes him think he’s a girl.

I don’t think you can undo the commutation. However Bradley Manning agreed to serve out 35 years in order to avoid prosecution for hundreds of crimes for which he was charged but not convicted. By accepting the commutation he has voided the agreement.

I believe that he can now be charged with all those other crimes.

That is the route we should take.

Figure out if he is indirectly (not by much) responsible for anyone’s murder and try him for that.

It is likely that Bradley Manning will make the point moot quite soon.

Adapting a line from Obama, let it out...somebody has a utility knife and a sewing kit to help it work through its issues about its plumbing. After that, mental clarity about its treason will be easy to achieve.

NO, it does not get the benefit of a gendered pronoun. That’s for those with the slightest modicum of dedication to the oath it swore.

IIRC, one of the very first things the Army did after zero signed the commutation was to announce that Mr. Manning was no longer receiving government funded "sexual transition therapy."

Buy your own estrogen, you ludus naturae.

If Obama didn’t publish Manning’s commutation to the Federal Register then it will expire in 30 days.
As I recall Manning wasn’t going to be released until May.

No.

We've got more pressing issues to contend with.

Manning will be leaving prison with a dishonorable discharge and zero veterans' benefits. Sure, he'll probably be a darling of the left for a little while until his benefactors realize he's insufferable (and mentally unstable) then he'll be cut loose on his own.

He's going to have a very difficult time navigating the real world.

Trump has more important things to do and it's not worth the precedent it would set.

What do you think will happen to Manning?

I think it is likely that, released from supervision, Mr. Manning will succeed in killing himself.
