Handing Cruz a lifetime appointment to the high court would have been a political masterstroke. It would have simultaneously eliminated Trump’s chief adversary within the Republican Party and elated conservatives.

It would also crush liberals - Cruz is relatively young and he'd represent conservative views on the high court for decades to come. He could be the court's successor to Antonin Scalia. I hope he reconsiders.

Cruz would be a great pick for the SCOTUS. I don’t really like the guy but he does have a great legal mind and is an Originalist. On the SCOTUS I wouldn’t have to look or hear him very much.

I sincerely hope that Cruz does become an ally for Trump in the Senate. His performance in the hearings so far have been impressive

Cruz madenice with Trump once before only to stab him in the back and twist the knife. Cruz knows that some actual legislative accomplishments will be helpful on his quest for the highest office. If I were the Trump team, I would plan for a primary challenge by Cruz in 2020. Fool me once...

There is no doubt Cruz put these 'friends' of his, up to making it sound like Trump and Cruz are on the same team now. However, what is ignored is Mark Levin's melt down I read posted here on FR, right after Ted Cruz made his mission up to Trump Tower. Something along the lines that Trump was NOT picking 'conservatives' to be on his team.

I suppose it is newsworthy, when any Senator literally does fulfill their oath of office, to protect and defend our Constitution. Time will tell about this term limitation legislation.. And there is NO surprise Ted Cruz would want limitations lifted on political donations.

Know what? cruises failure to unequivocally endorse Trump at the convention told me all I had to know about him. He is emotionally under-developed, EXACTLY the kind of individual totally unsuited for POTUS or SCOTUS.

Cruz would be the greatest Supreme Court justice ever, imo.

His political experience and oratory skills will set him apart. He would write convincing opinions and he could communicate the ideas to the American people. He could organize and motivate the conservative justices and on occassion, sway the liberal ones.

When exactly did Cruz endorse Trump? I think from the 'get-go' of this campaign season, that Cruz and lying Ryan had already teamed up... most especially when Cruz could not get Mitch the Senate to resolve him eligible to hold the office of president, like the Senate did for lord McCain, back in 2008.

Had lying Ryan been successful to force Trump out, maybe they would have given Cruz the veep nod under Pence.. But I think lying Ryan's presidential aspirations are on par with those of Ted Cruz, whatever it takes. I also believe the Wilson dossier on Trump was well known all through the GOPe... I think that is also why Kasick did what he did in Ohio..

I also think that old man Bush letting it be known publicly that he was not going to vote for Trump was not by accident... The spooks went to work refining a method of delivery to somebody to do something.
