Clinton Not Finished? Hillary Considering NYC Mayoral Run

After losing her second Presidential election, Hillary Clinton was, reportedly, set to retire from politics and use her time for more industrious pursuits, such as haunting the woods near her Chappaqua estate like some sort of pantsuitted Yeti.

But it turns out that while her Presidential aspirations may have passed, she may be considering other political offices, including New York City mayor.

Sources told Newsmax that Clinton has been discussing the possibility with close friends and strategists, and that her prospects look good—much better than if she were to take a third crack at a Democratic Presidential primary.

“She is wildly popular among New Yorkers,” one New York Dem strategist told the media organization. “So much so that were she to file, [Mayor Bill] de Blasio would have to file his retirement papers on the same day.”

Clinton beat Donald Trump among Manhattanites nearly 80% to 20%, but competing against a fellow Democrat would be more difficult. Trump ran as a Republican—with views very unpopular with the liberal-leaning NYC population—and Trump’s a familiar entity to New Yorkers, who haven’t always responded positively to his real estate development plans.

De Blasio is unpopular: his approval ratings have often dropped below 40% and only around half of New Yorkers say they’d give him a second term. He’s also no fan of Clinton. A supporter, initially, of Bernie Sanders, it took de Blasio until well into Clinton’s run to offer an official endorsement.

Clinton also has a ready-made fundraising network within the city. Sources close to Anthony Weiner’s mayoral run said at the time that Weiner’s abortive efforts were simply a way for Clinton and her team, including Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, to identify and court big money donors and bundlers in NYC. During her Presidential campaign, Clinton could often count on Manhattan’s elite to provide a quick influx of cash.

Her biggest hurdle, though, would be that she doesn’t actually live in New York City. So either she’ll also be looking into real estate—a carpetbagger candidate a second time—or she’ll have to move in with her daughter Chelsea.

And at this point, though, even Clinton has to be trigger shy. A third major loss—even at the municipal level, would be devastating.

Sorry, but I think this is click bait ROTD.

She is not well, and will make $100K per speech as often as she wants to.

Why “get a real job?”

After several ruinous years under DeBlasio, New Yorkers might be ready for a real mayor, not a perpetual pol like Hillary. By "real" I mean someone like Rudolph Giuliani.

Giuliani lost his first mayoral run against David Dinkins. Under Dinkins, NYC was awful ... filthy, dangerous, and in despair.

The voters kicked Dinkins out after one term, and finally elected the candidate (Giuliani) they should've voted for the first time around.
