Mike Pence draws crowd in Williamsburg, despite rain (Virginia)

WILLIAMSBURG — The old capitol of Colonial Williamsburg served as a backdrop to Republican vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence, as he took to the stage in the midst of a downpour before a crowd of about 650 for a rally Tuesday evening.

"This is what we call a moist evening," Pence said. "Tonight we're showing the media and we're showing the world, this is a movement that is going to elect Donald Trump."

Ronald and Ella Weiss drove from Olde Towne, Portsmouth, for Tuesday's event. They've been Trump backers from the start.

Ella Weiss said they like what Trump stands for, including the economy, security and education … "because we were educators."

Tommy Ascher, of Virginia Beach, stood by the barricade to the rally, directing attendees and answering questions.

"I think Trump's what America needs to rebuild. A businessman who knows about infrastructure, building and the economy," said Ascher. "He knows how to lead."

Not all of Trump's supporters were as enthusiastic.

Sarah King, member of the Gloucester County Republican Committee, said she "wouldn't pick Trump, but he's all we got."(continued)

ROTFLMAO. It is raining and it is a bigger crowd than Hillary has indoors by magnitudes.

My wife and I had planned to attend, but she’s still recovering from the flu. Good on the folks who made it to CW to see Gov. Pence!

The machines that process paper ballots are great. What they need to do is throw out that touch-screen nonsense.

In Arizona we have touch screens that produce a piece of paper with you votes on it. You can check that your vote was recorded correctly, and there is something physical to recount.

So, Pence (the #2 spot) got 650 outside in the rain, and Clinton (#1 spot) gets 200 inside at a university. We won’t even mention the near non-existent “crowds” that Kaine attracts. Just a quick mention here that Trump routinely gets thousands on the ground, and tens and even hundreds of thousands of views for each of his rallies on youtube, and even MILLIONS on occasion.

Yet, the media claim that Clinton is winning.

Background — I graduated from William and Mary in Williamsburg, and spent a lot of time on Duke of Gloucester St, or “DOG street” as we called it, including evenings snuck into the beautiful gardens behind the Capitol building itself.

Mr. Pence spoke from within the front courtyard wall, and that courtyard really isn’t that big. There’s a large grassy park out front, but that speech seems to be from the front steps of the Capitol itself.

My point is that 650 people would be a packed crowd within that courtyard. It was a good crowd. Maybe folks were also just outside the front wall of the Capitol, but that wall is a tad tall for shorter people to see over.

Note well the sycophant with the “end racism now” sign who assuredly went the entire evening untouched, but certainly severely mauled by trigger words and other specious offenses. Turn the tables at a Hillary! rally and I doubt a sole skinny white guy with a Trump sign would be similarly tolerated.

Yep... 650 packs ‘em in pretty tightly. Pence did well getting that many.

That'll work, for sure. Anything that ensures some measure of accountability.

As a programmer with over 30 years of experience I can assure you that I can print one piece of data on a piece of paper and save a different one to the database. Child's play.

Get rid of all electronic voting machines. Mechanical only.

Well, grasshopper, I was paid to write a computer program in 1964, so I am aware of that. But in this case the printed paper is then scanned into the database, and retained in case their is a need for a recount.
