Donald Trump will win US presidency, Tim Farron predicts (UK Liberal Democratic Party Leader)

Donald Trump will win the US presidency because the same groups of people who swung the Brexit referendum will turn out to vote for him, Lib Dem leader Tim Farron has predicted.

Mr Farron said that the fiery Republican candidate will be boosted, like the Leave cause was, by a high turnout from people who do not usually vote.

"My gut tells me he won't win. Do people really want his hand on the button? But, logically, I assume he will," Mr Farron said to delegates at the party conference.

Mr Farron was taking part in a jovial conversation with comedian Matt Forde in which he admitted joining in with offensive football chants at the Blackburn Rovers ground directed at then Cabinet minister and local MP Jack Straw.

The Lib Dem leader said he felt sorry for disgraced Labour MP Keith Vaz, who resigned as chairman of the Commons Home Affairs Committee after reports he paid two male escorts for their services.

"Right or wrong, it's utterly humiliating for him personally, and probably more so for his family. I do feel sorry for him."

Mr Farron then joked about reports Mr Vaz had tried to conceal his identity from the escorts by claiming to be a washing machine salesman.

"That doesn't sound very plausible to me. I'll be very careful with what I say, I was going to say he doesn't look like he'd be any good with his hands. He doesn't look like a horny handed man of toil, does he?"

When told that a YouGov poll detailing the sexual fantasies of different party supporters showed Lib Dems like bondage, while Tories fantasise about sex with a sports star, Mr Farron said: "I think this is something on which I need an evidence-based approach to things, and it's a bizarre hobby I'm not fully conversant with. I apologise for not knowing the party well enough."

Mr Farron said his predecessor Nick Clegg has been very helpful to him, and that he forgave ex-leader Lord Ashdown for his tendency to broadcast his views on political matters.

"He tends to give his advice sometimes a little more publicly - just in case I haven't heard. He's a bit of a hero of mine so I'm very tolerant and forgiving of his occasional public advice," Mr Farron said.

Mr Farron insisted the Lid Dem price for taking part in any future coalition would be proportional representation.

The Lib Dem leader launched a strong attack on the pro-Jeremy Corbyn Momentum organisation in the Labour Party.

"The people around him are some pretty hard-bitten Trotskyists and they have been trying to take over the Labour Party for generations.

"They don't give a monkeys about winning a general election, they want to take over the Labour Party, and so they have."

I was only 15 when Reagan beat Carter but I do remember the whole Reagan with the nuclear code meme.

"Hand on the button"...

If Trump's history of opposing the Iraq War means anything, he's a lot less trigger happy than Bush and most of Congress.

How about an unstable, old, mean, and seizure-prone woman? Is that better? Pfffff.

Do people really want his hand on the button?

Insane fear. We've lived the last 7 years in fear of Obama having his hand near the button. Trump is way safer than Obama. Obama had a chip on his shoulder and scores to settle. It's a miracle he didn't nuke our allies, the way he treated them. Used to be we worried about our leader nuking the enemy. With Obama, I worried he wanted to nuke anyone, but mostly our allies.

Could we trust Hillary near the nuclear button? What if she had an aneurysm during a crisis, and in her seizure fit swung her hand at the button? Oops.

Pretty much my story too. In high school years, I believed the lie that Carter was the adult and Reagan would get us in a war.

I remember I was at a play rehearsal on election night, someone came in and told us Reagan had won and we were all silent and scared for a few moments.....

No big deal. We grew up and realized the media was a bunch of liars.

I hope the same happens to these millennials. They’re being lied to by the left about politics, the economy, sexuality, and nearly everything else. I do pray they awaken to the truth like we did in the late 70s and early 80s.

Yeah, and Ollie North and the contra thing, man the press wanted him impeached. That was their holy chance to rid the world of Reagan. Didn’t work. I honestly believe they hoped he’d die when he was shot. That hated him that much.

A win, even without the landslide, would still be great.

Born in 1960, I voted for Reagan both times, although he was never my first choice. My first candidate of interest was former republican turned independent John Anderson. I went to my local mall and picked up some literature about him. Ultimately, I wised up and realized the only plausible way to oust Carter was to vote for Reagan.
His near assassination is a vivid memory.
Learning of the Beirut Marine Barracks bombing under his watch in 1983 greatly diminished my faith and trust in him.
In 1984, I volunteered to canvass my neighborhood for Gary Hart and would have voted for him over Reagan in a literal heartbeat. I was devastated when Mondale seized the nomination despite the fact that Hart had won more primaries and caucuses. Reluctantly, I voted for Reagan again. It was more of a protest statement against Mondale, however.
Today, thanks to Donald Trump, I am a former democrat (after 38 years) and can think of no one better suited to be on the other end of that hypothetical 3 AM phone call than Mr. Trump!!! He has proven his prescience and wisdom in knowing when not to engage in destabilizing conflict. Moreover, he has been vindicated in his suggestions for reshaping NATO to include a division focused on defeating terrorism is brilliant. Indeed, he is the leader our nation simply must have to survive all the threats we face!!!
As far as Hildabeast in concerned, I wouldn’t entrust her to do a damned thing!!! She has destroyed everything she’s touched and possesses a hair trigger temper that fundamentally serves to make her unfit to be president!!
Not to mention, she belongs behind prison bars!!!
