Trump Emerges in Center, Outmaneuvering Clinton, As Race Enters the Stretch
The New York Sun ^ | September 13, 2016 | Conrad Black

Posted on 09/13/2016 7:53:30 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

As I suggested when I gave readers a rest from me five weeks ago, the Republican convention successfully celebrated the complete rejection of the Post-Reagan Republican party: The Bushes, Senator McCain, and Governor Romney weren’t present or mentioned, or much missed. Senator Cruz, as I wrote in my last piece here, and the otherwise amiable Governor Kasich made asses of themselves, and opinion has moved on.

(It was not entirely sane for Mr. Kasich, who did not utter a negative word about any other Republican during the primaries, and on his one winning night advised his countrymen to “hug a stranger at the mall” — which advice, if followed, would have quintupled the number of assault charges in the country — and to “take a widow to dinner,” to stay away from the Republican convention in his home state, Ohio.)

The Democratic convention’s orgy of self-praise and joyous continuity generated enough jollity for the Trumpophobic press to open up a five- to seven-point lead for Mrs. Clinton. But Donald Trump already has the 40% of Americans who share Archie Bunker’s dislike of political correctness, vote-buying with welfare, fiscal incontinence, and a feeble foreign policy, and there has been no further need to serve them up more raw meat.

So he has just disappointed, week after week, the frenzied press lynch mob that had implied he was a racist, a misogynist, an inciter of violence, a vulgar buffoon, a member of the Flat Earth Society, an advocate of an automatic firearm for every white seven-year-old American, and probably an enemy of fluoridated drinking water...

Trump is now going in for the kill. He will be merciless. Trump in a landslide.

Trump is now going in for the kill. He will be merciless. Trump in a landslide.

Hillary, the Dems and their friends in the media are panicking. All that money spent on ads in August and what did it get them? That was their shot and what a waste. Trump has been on a roll the last four weeks and it has been shown in the polls.

Now we have the damaging video on Sunday, and the media is forced to cover it. You think they are happy about it? Hillary is in trouble and everybody knows it.

Trump has to keep the pressure up, and he will. A man like him knows when his opponent is down, and he can smell it from a mile away. Unlike McCain and Romney, Trump will not let up.

Could you imagine if this were Hillary vs McCain? McCain would probably say, out of respect for Hillary’s health, that he was suspending his campaign until Hillary was back on her feet.

Worth repeating:

“Donald is no Franklin D., but it is one of the piquancies of American democracy that groups and institutions are sometimes rescued by those they vehemently oppose. FDR saved the capitalism most of whose titans of finance reviled him; Nixon salvaged the Democrats’ war in Vietnam, and they crucified him and handed Indochina to Hanoi and Pol Pot. However deficient his conservative credentials, Donald Trump is the last line of defense for America’s conservatives from a cruel fate, though not one that their purblindness has not somewhat invited.”

Brilliant article, and thanks for posting. Black's characterization of the MSM as "leprous" is going to leave a mark. But this:

The pyrotechnics of the primaries, like smoke over a Civil War–era battlefield, is now clearing and reveals Trump in possession of much of the center of the field. Mrs. Clinton has the Left, but not all the forces of discontent, given Mr. Trump’s robust pan-ideological iconoclasm.

It is that iconoclasm that the elites of both parties fear the most, and is the most likely to produce the change that threatens their pilfered and illegitimate ruling-class status. Hillary is wasting her time and energy in high-rolling donor suppers - $100,000 for a nod from Her Heinous' royal head in person if we normal citizens may believe the straight-faced reportage of the behavior of our betters - while Trump is packing the mind and muscle of the country in to the rafters. If in fact the system is so corrupted that the election may be regarded as bought and paid for despite the preferences of the actual voters, then we venture into very dangerous, and potentially very violent waters. Hillary is depending on a coalition of outrage to take her through, dismissing any opposing outrage with the customary labels of bigotry, sexism, racism, etc, etc ad nauseum. But when political formulae get old, they get old very fast, and this one's well past its sell-by date.

Trump better than anyone knows that Hillary is wounded and down. He will increase his attack, more rallies, more position papers, more positives. He is raising the bar to stay in the game. He will run Hillary into an overheated state.
He will do another rallies and ask where is Hillary? Oh napping? He will increase the pressure from every side. She is stuck in mud and can't more.
Hillary is an old woolly mammoth and Trump is a saber tooth tiger. Hillary walks into a mud pong, she is stuck. Trump circles, attacks, retreats, attacks another side. The woolly mammoth is bleeding, stuck, nowhere to go and the cagey tiger is waiting to put the final bite into her to kill the woolly mammoth.

It's survival. Trump understands, Hillary brays that she deserves it.

I don’t know if Black will ever return to the US but he has an interesting perspective as an outsider. His current status is he has started to enjoy writing and commenting which for our side is a plus. He is no Mark Steyn but he can be wonderfully withering in attacking the left.
