Cruz might have had a shot at AG, but never for SC...he would never had survived the nomination process. He made too many enemies in DC and they just would never had gone out on a limb and spend political capital for him.

Cruz has done good work in the Senate and high profile his opposition to the Establishment arguably paved the way for the Trump candidacy. He proved he is not presidential material but he is certainly Senatorial material. Trump should enthusiastically endorse him now, even after Cruz snubbed Trump. Ryan is different. I would rather see a Democrat in that seat than Ryan. Ryan, after all, proved he is a contender for Democrats' MVP. A Democrat in Ryan's place would likely do less damage than Ryan can and will do.
