Ex-Sanders aide: Trump could win

Bernie Sanders's former campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, says Democrats shouldn't underestimate Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“I certainly think she can win, yes," Weaver told Politico for a podcast published Monday, of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"But it’s going to be much closer than many people think,” Weaver continued.

“I think some people on the Democratic side who think that, you know, Trump is such a buffoon that it’s already won — but I think he’s a very dangerous opponent and I think he certainly has the ability to win as well," he said.

Trump received a bounce in polling following the Republican National Convention last month, eliminating polling leads for Clinton.

A new CBS News poll conducted July 29-31 after the GOP convention found Clinton with a 7-point lead over Trump.

Weaver also revealed in the Politico interview that Sanders was "never really that interested in being vice president." The independent Vermont senator wasn't named as among those Clinton's campaign vetted before it picked Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.).

"Because he's [Sanders] a fierce advocate for what he believes, and, you know, often the role of vice president is to stand behind the president, nodding. ... I mean, Joe Biden sort of epitomizes the sort of dutiful vice president who, you know, supports the president regardless," Weaver said.

Sanders has urged his supporters from the primary to back Clinton in the election against Trump. The CBS poll found 73 percent of his supporters plan to do so.

He will have to beat the fraud margin as well as the legitimate vote.

Trump WILL win if he focuses on the battleground states, stays on the offense and stays disciplined. He can’t let himself get dragged into defense on every little petty attack.

If the votes in swing states are as close as they’re likely to be, Hillary will win through fraud - the same individuals voting multiple times, dead people voting, non-existent people voting, this time with the blessing of not only the liberal media and the Democratic Party, but with the covert support of many in the GOP elite. Trump needs and hopefully will get enough of an edge to make this impossible for the Hillary team to pull off.

Sanders supporters need to be ready for one more shock.

On election day they show up at the local polling place only to be turned away because “you already voted”.

You heard it here first.

Very good analysis e_h. I hope he can pull it off. If the polls are correct, it is a disgrace for our nation to be so close to electing such a corrupt person as Hillary.

We don't just have a Hillary problem, we have a voter problem.

We certainly have a voter problem in this country when Obama was re-elected to a second term. The first time you could attribute Obama's success as a knee-jerk reaction to "Bush fatigue" by naive but well-intentioned voters. The fact that he was re-elected proved that Obama and his policies weren't an anomaly, but the direction in which things in the US were headed.

I recently spoke with a friend who says many folks he knows are not going to vote. Don’t trust Hillary and don’t like Trump’s language.
