Does Donald Trump really want to be president?
Ask me a couple of weeks ago, when he was riding high, closing in the polls, and I would have rolled my eyes in disbelief at the question. Now I'm not so sure. I wrote long ago the presidency was Trump's to lose. I meant it then and I mean it nowonly Trump can bring down Trump. Unfortunately, he's doing it. His signal-to-noise problem is getting the better of him. He doesn't know where to pick a fight, so he's doing it everywhere.
And it's hard to believe he's doing it when his hugely tarnished opponent, Hillary Clintonjust announced by the AP as having magically sewn up the nomination before Tuesday's California primaryis so easy to beat. You really do have to wonder if Trump wants to win the presidencyor just to "be right" in every conceivable argument, even, and especially, those he shouldn't be having.
If it's the latter, he is truly betraying his supporters, the country and ultimately himself in a big way. ...... But what do I mean about this signal-to-noise problem? I don't believe that Trump is a racist or a sexist, but his inability to distinguish between what's important and what's not, his confusion of signal and noise that propels him into making accusations and arguments he shouldn't, makes him seem like one or, at the very least, gives his adversaries plenty of ammunition to convince people of it.

So far in my book, the good outweighs the bad, in a large margin. But every voter has to do their own calculation.
No.
Trump has US citizens talking and thinking about the issues. He is obliterating political correctness. He is bringing the snakes out in the open. Why would we want him to change?
Last few days been wondering if he truly did not/doesn’t want it.
Wonder if maybe he was just feeding his ego, felt it would never get this far and he would bow out, but it took off.
Now he is sabotaging his own chances.
He needs to watch his mouth if it isn’t to late.
What do you mean, IF The Donald is the nominee. The Republican Establishment has to live with this (to them) very uncomfortable fact they have been dragged to, kicking and screaming.
The campaign, so far, has streaks of both brilliance and subtlety, that have left the media and many factions of the public first proclaiming, “Trump is toast, he’s DONE!”, then almost immediately after, realizing that once again, The Donald has just gotten a major bump UPWARDS in the polls.
The noise gets rather quickly smothered by the even stronger signal that replaces it. AM reception in a thunderstorm is suddenly replaced by FM reception, which may be of limited range at first, but bursts through virtually free of static.
We may only hope that enough people are tuned to FM.
In case Roger hasn't noticed, Trump isn't talking to him, the rest of us understand Trump just fine.
The article supposes that Trump’s comments on the judge are a bad fight to pick.
But that is not at all certain. The situation seems to be following a predictable path.
1. Trump makes a statement.
2. Trump is roundly criticized.
3. Trump turns out to have been correct.
4. Trump gains support.
We do not know if the “judge” statements will follow the path, but it seems to be so far. We seem to be in step three at this point.
Man up Simon!
I have been in a constant cringe this entire week, not because I’m turned off by what Trump said, but only because of how the MSM and GOPe will take this and run with it. It’s as if they were WAITING for such a “controversy” to come up to turn up the heat on the talk of replacing him, or legitimizing a third party candidate.
Wow.
I guess all them illegal mehhiccans are all nice, cute, and SQEEKEY CLEAN.
As in: no criminals, no illegal VOTING, not welfare cheating, not RAPEing, or DRIVING DRUNK...........
And of course ALL of them FEDERAL JUDGES are pristine clean as well.............
Ain’t it great when somebody IS NOT POLITICLLY CORRECT???
IMO he needs to not respond to anything related to his business ventures.
"Although magician's assistants appear to play a supporting role and receive a lesser billing than the magician who appears to be the source of illusions, the assistant is often the one making the mechanics of the illusions work."
In recent years, the Republican has played it straight, followed the rules, not made any move to make it more difficult for the MSM to get away with its nasty little game.
Trump is not willing to take the passive role. He knows as much about the media game as anyone, and he certainly understands it better than the average talking-head bimbo - male or female - that operate at the upper levels of the on-air talent ecosystem of the English-speaking MSM.
This of course drives them bat-excrement, but that only seems to result in his ratings going higher.
He also seems to have learned to use Andy Breitbart's (brilliant) technique of making an assertion that appears to be "over the top," waiting for the MSM to go into a feverish cross-eyed snit over it, and then - a day or two later - coming out with proof that he was right all along, or - as in the racist judge's case - just letting the process take its course, letting the facts catch up to the story. Every time he's done this, he's been borne out by the facts, and the moronic bimbos in the media have looked like fools.
Just win baby. But to win, I do think Trump has to improve in a few areas. Can he? Will he? I dont know. We gotta win this one with who we brought.
Totally agree.
“Ask me a couple of weeks ago, when he was riding high, closing in the polls, and I would have rolled my eyes in disbelief at the question. Now I’m not so sure. “
So in short the answer depends on the week for you.
And people on the right have the nerve to make fun of pajama boy?
Hell some of these guys are just as soft.
Trump is the crazy uncle at Thanksgiving. Everybody rolls their eyes at him when he talks...yet secretly agree with him.
“Now he is sabotaging his own chances.”
Get a grip.
Democrats are more durable than people on the right.
Looks like this post fished out the usual wobbly types, lol.
No.
