Donald Trump won North Carolinas Republican primary last month, but many of the states GOP convention delegates elected so far prefer the second-place candidate: Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
That could spell trouble for Trump if he doesnt arrive at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July with the 1,237 delegates required to win on the first ballot.
For the first round of voting, North Carolinas delegate count must proportionately match the states March 15 primary results: 29 votes for Trump, 27 for Cruz, nine for John Kasich, six for Marco Rubio and one for Ben Carson.
Any delegate who doesnt support the assigned candidate faces a fine of up to $10,000, according to N.C. Republican Party rules. But if no candidate gets 1,237 votes on the first ballot, delegates then can support anyone they want and for many North Carolina delegates, thats Cruz.
Cruz has got a better ground game, said NCGOP first vice chair Michele Nix, who said the majority of delegates chosen so far support Cruz....

Pat McCrory could be a good Trump VP. He vetoed an Cruzer guest worker out-of-the-shadows amnesty bill.
He also got rid of “hispanic outreach” pandering office at the state gop.
Who would expect anything less from the GOPe and their water boy?
cruise only gets delegates when they are voting against the person they were selected to vote for! How cruznadian!
I’m still getting sick of hearing this. I guess Trump can’t do anything to really stop it because the GOP is already in there before the delegates are picked. Cruz just has to add his people and Trump’s outnumbered every time.
Pray hard for Trump.
Cruz will lose the national election because tens of millions of Trump supporters will never vote for Cruz if Trump is screwed over,, including me and at least 50 of my family members
How do you explain Cruz’s scooping up delegates when the GOPe hated him worse than Trump? Most of the planning for this dates back to 2015 or even 2014.
He’s in the midst of a reelection campaign for Governor.
Hillary thanks you profusely.
you are funny.. I am for the guy who will get 3 to 4 or more million voters and hundreds of more delegates more than Ted Cruz.. big question??.. why shouldn’t the candidate who ran and led the polls for 8 months and who now still leads the polls by a high margin be the nominee?
Hillary thanks you profusely.
Hillary thanks all the Cruz supporters who are nominating her.
Ahh 2nd division, you know thst the party Elites do not hate Cruz more than Trump. I’ve never heard of a nevercruz movement by the party Elites or donors?
That doesn’t work. If Cruz takes the nomination after winning 4 states legitimately then we deserve Hillary. Cruz will lose the entire east coast next Tuesday but Maine. That is not a strong candidate for any reasonable person.
I am sick of hearing that Cruz has a better ground game and that is why he is getting these delegates. It is not his campaign that is securing these delegates, it is the party Elites at the local levels and local committees start using the Slate of delegates in favor of Cruz. It is deception at its finest.

The whole GOP was #NeverCruz when Don Trump was still a reality television star.
I never said that candidate shouldn’t. But talking stupid about how you wouldn’t vote for Cruz if he were the nominee deserves to be called out.
