Hobby Lobby founder endorses Rubio
The Hill's Ballot Box Blog ^ | February 28, 2016 | Sarah Ferris

The prominent conservative founder of Hobby Lobby on Sunday endorsed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for president while ripping apart GOP front-runner Donald Trump

David Green, founder and CEO of the arts-and-crafts chain store, said he will vote for Rubio this week in his home state of Oklahoma, which is one of a dozen states holding primaries on Super Tuesday.

"Marco Rubio has impressed us with his preparation and the way he carries himself. But most importantly, Marco regularly exhibits humility and gives the glory to God," Green wrote in a statement.

"I don't see humility in Mr. Trump, and that scares me to death," he said.

Green is a devout Christian who won a key battle against ObamaCare's birth control mandate at the Supreme Court in 2013. His endorsement of Rubio strikes a blow to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), an evangelical Christian who is battling Rubio for second place in most primaries on Tuesday.

Green is among several high-profile conservatives who are coming out in support of Rubio in the past week, as Trump is increasingly seen as the party's likely nominee.

"Our family business that we began with $600 has quite possibly been more successful than Mr. Trump's, but that doesn't make either of us qualified to be president. And unlike Mr. Trump, we give all the credit to God."

If endorsements are so important, why didn't Trump win Iowa with Palin?

I guess I’ve never heard of a store endorsing a candidate.

“If endorsements are so important, why didn’t Trump win Iowa with Palin?”

Let’s see how Trump does now that Senator Sessions endorsed him over Cruz.

Hmmmmm.....maybe this guy hasn’t heard about the, er, parties that ¡El Rubio! may have attended.

They’ll need to add a whole new section to their stores, for the Rubio aisle.

Hobby Lobby endorsed pro-amnesty US Senator James Lankford against marginally more conservative (Jebber) TW Shannon.

Rubio is a bigger fake christian than anyone with his ethno chauvinism, foam parties & drug dealing relatives.

She probably helped out in South Carolina even if she didn’t campaign there (did she?).

Iowa is really lousy at picking R candidates.

I have nothing against Hobby Lobby except that it isn’t as good as Michael’s craft store. Perhaps they should concentrate on having better goods than worrying about endorsements.

The Hobby Lobby founder and the Republican Establishment are tied at the hip.

The most obnoxious thing Rubio is saying right now is along the lines that Trump is destroying the ‘Conservative’ brand name.

I support Cruz over Trump but the Republican Establishment and the GOPe elected officials (95 percent of the total IMHO) have spent decades destroying the “Conservative” brand name in this country.

Its no wonder people flock to Trump in droves.

Well, God bless Mr. Green. He is a good man, I believe. He takes care of his employees, he is an honest businessman, and he has put up the good fight against parts of the government that aim to undercut religious liberty in the name of the secular state.

i would have thought Green would be in the Cruz camp. This one has me scratching my head unless Grren may philosophically more in alignment with Cruz but thinks Rubio is close enough and has a better shot of winning in the general against HRC.
