Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump switched political party affiliations at least five times since the late '80s...
...he left the party as recently as 2011.
Mr. Trump registered for the first time in New York as a Republican in July 1987, only to dump the GOP more than a decade later for the Independence Party in October 1999, according to the New York City Board of Elections.
In August 2001, the billionaire enrolled as a Democrat. Eight years later, he returned to the Republican Party...
After only two years as a registered Republican, Mr. Trump left the party again, and in December 2011 marked a box that indicated, "I do not wish to enroll in a party."
Mr. Trump returned to the GOP in April 2012...

I've left the Republican party long ago I just haven't told the state yet.
What does that prove? Nothing.
Did you register as a Democrat? If you did it proves a lot.
I was more liberal when younger, but I grew up and became a republican, and now I look back and think I am not one and instead I am a conservative , a true one socially and fiscally.
Ted only changed his citizenship status....once. Which do you think is more relevant to running for President.
Oh thats it... You finally found the item of concern to me... Thanks for your thousands of posts to finally hit it..... What was I thinking?
Speaking for myself, I've been reliably conservative since 1980, but I've changed parties at least six times. From Republican to Independent (Unenrolled) and back again.
Currently I'm "un-enrolled" in a party because the establishment Republicans do not speak for me.
Did he... Show us the documents...
As I recall....People were changing parties to vote in the primaries. And people change all the time....
Man, do i give it to trump, lol!
i’m on a wanted list.
but this doesn’t bother me.
20 years ago I was doing things a LOT worse than switching parties. It has no bearing on who i am now.
no, it taught me a lot of lessons.
and the Scalia comment was a good one, and his two picks for the SC are good ones.
I’ll still give him heck, someone here has to :), but not on this issue.
If Trump had left the parties each time they had reneged on a promise to voters he’d have changed parties at least 6,000 times.
Nothing wrong with that. Registering as a Democrat, on the other hand...
A lotta people jumped on Scalia for that remark...and IMHO, rightly so.
“Donald Trump changed political parties at least five times: report”
yeah, me too. they all suck and every time I changed I regretted it and changed again.
What’s the point? All it proves is Trump thinks ALL sides of the Uniparty coin suck, just like the rest of us; which is just another point in Trump’s favor, once again showing that Trump is the ultimate outsider.
Some of us including Reagan were once Democrat in name only. In 1966 the child of a union person often didn’t know they could register any other way even if they didn’t support some Dem ideas. But then again so many Cruz people don’t believe people can change. Thankfully a God accepts people can change.
I remember my father apoplectic that I thought Goldwater was the best candidate in a history class where I was the only one to do so. That can leave an imprint.
Jenner says he’s a girl. Folks say it’s what he thinks that matters. Cruz is American, think I’ll be a fire man.. Yeah, or maybe an astrophysics, na fire man looks cool. Drive the back seat of the ladder truck.
