Iowan's - Lil Help

Apologies in advance if I screwed this up and it doesn't just go to Iowa Freepers.. Never done this before..

I just have a basic question about the Caucus - I live about 2 hours from Dubuque in Verona WI..

A buddy and I are thinking about heading that way for the Caucus - we'd like to just observe the process out of curiosity - is that allowed or do you have to be an Iowa resident to get inside?

We don't want any part of the process or to interrupt it at all - just want to see what you guys do (basically fly on the wall fascination) - then head out for a couple of beers and pizza to watch things unfold then probably hit the casino to piss away some hard earned money to the tribes...

We both think we are in for a big disappointment and it is probably as boring as standing in line for a primary - but what the heck - bucket list, right....

Any info is appreciated - we've done some searching and are coming up empty..

This is not a straw poll. If you are not a resident of Iowa, you should not vote in the caucus. We are not Democrats.

I have a question too... what time will we find out who won? Should I plan to stay up all night (I live in Easter Time Zone) or just forget it and I’ll have to just check in the morning? Will we know by 6:00 am my time?

doesn’t totally answer your question - but it sounds like they are trying to make it quicker...

>>> I live in Easter Time Zone <<<

I’m considering a move to the Halloween time zone.

Thank you! Sounds like it might be that same night? I just heard there will 1,600 reporters in hotel rooms in Iowa. Wow, quite a boom in business!

yeh, hopefully the same night..

During our research, we were thinking the democrat caucus might be more entertaining - I guess they physically move to different parts of the room for support and counting..

that said, I’m certain we could not contain ourselves from heckling that crowd..

anyway, I’m not thinking we are getting into a caucus - unless some Iowan knows otherwise..

Anyone can observe a caucus. Just tell them so at the registration table. There will be thousands of press people at various caucuses.

See the list of caucus locations at iowagop.org:

https://www.iowagop.org/caucus-locations/

The caucus results should be coming in by 8pm CT and should be mostly complete by 9pm.
