Pennsylvania GOP eyes Trump, Cruz effect on Toomey's chances

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Long optimistic about U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey winning a second term in Pennsylvania, Republicans now have something to worry about -- and it is not necessarily a strong Democratic Party challenger.

Rather, a number of top Pennsylvania Republicans are fretting about a divisive Republican presidential nominee souring the state's moderate, swing voters against Toomey -- not to mention other Republican candidates on the ballot -- and dooming his re-election bid in November.

The stakes are tremendous, with Democrats hoping to retake control of the U.S. Senate....

Toomey doomed himself when he started back anti gun rules. In a State that has a lot of hunters and gun owners. You have to know your voters.

Perhaps they should have though about it before they stabbed the working American conservative in the back. My hope is that they are all tried for treason.

I agree. Toomey s*** the bed. Let’s hope we have a conservative challenger.
He’s probably the most likely Republican senator to lose.

Toomey has been a disappointment to say the least.
His joining up with Manchin on the gun bill was enough for me to think he needed to be Cantorized.

Quite a spin this piece is...my PA GOP friends have been telling me for 2 years they thought Toomey would face an “uphill climb” to re-election. Now they claim they were “long optimistic” and blame Trump? GOPe losers.

Toomey sucked. I would love Santorum to run again. He was falsely attacked for not supporting Toomey. Sanoturm was right not to support that gays in the military, illegal alien lover, and all liberal things he loves.

Dump Toomey! Support Santorum!

Pennsylvania is my hometown. I grew up in the state. They screwed Santorum and should never be forgiven for doing so.

Who cares if Toomey loses? I do not. Admiral Sestak will be good on veterans’ issues as will Tammy Duckworth in Illinois.

Mark Kirk, Kelly Ayotte, and Ron Johnson, along with Toomey and a few other GOPe’ers, would be better as defeated Senators, in the general or the primary.

So these gopes need to be all primaried by conservatives. If we get solid conservatives running across the board with strong support for and from the conservative Republican candidate then Republicans will keep the House and Senate maybe by larger margins. Aside: what excuses will the Republicans manage to produce when they control both houses and the Senate by a filibuster proof margin, have the presidency, and continue to let the remaining Democrats call the shots?

Their excuses won’t matter a hill of beans, they will no longer be in charge.

Things we want will get done.

Even the Cruz supporters want America to be Great Again.

Fleming for Congress, LA-4 Primary

This one is out of date. Fleming is running to succeed David Vitter and trailing badly at the outset.

Santorum has vacated PA: would they let him go back? Or would his pride keep him in VA?
