I read where there have been multiple attempts at ratifying an amendment to keep titled people from being POTUS or some such thing. Don’t remember the exact claim.
To: texhenry
No she did not! It is not automatic! You actually have to write them a letter saying you want to renounce your citizenship. Just as Ted Cruz did when he told Canada he didn’t want to be a Natural Born Canadian anymore!

Where is his evidence that that was the Framer’s intent? He does not seem to have any. I don’t think, if there is litigation that one could just cite this guy and aver that “he says so.”

Vattel's Law of Nations, Book 1 cahapter XIX provides the definition of natural born citizen. John Jay's letter to Geroge Wasington indicates the framer's intent to prevent the power of the presidency from descending into foreign hands. Article II, Section I paragraph 5 provides the manifestation of that intent. Benjamin Franklin's letter to Dumas provides ample evidence that Vattel's Law of Nations was referred to extensively thoroughout the establishment of our nation and our constitution.

Thank you. It is worth noting that Jay, because of his Huegenot father, was bilingual in French from his infancy and was familiar with Vattel’s work.

Why fivecatsanddog? Sen Cruz is/was in the same situation? If he is okay to run for President so then is an Arab Prince... What’s good for a Canadian is good for a Jordanian.

Cruz is NOT eligible for POTUS under Article II. The problem is that too many are misinterpreting, or reinterpreting, the requirements to suit their agenda (as in Obama’s election). Both parents of the presidential candidate must be US citizens. Cruz’ father is Cuban.

Not even close since both have allegiances to other countries.

I hear trump pays well. Unless you’re an illegal Polish innigrant working building demolition, and then you get four or five bucks an hour, cash, under the table, get to sleep on the jobsite, and don’t even get a hardhat.

I would just like to point out that Cruz was born in Canada. So what? Obama was born in Kenya.

Vattel's Law of Nations, Book 1 cahapter XIX provides the definition of natural born citizen. This guy Vattel sure is popular around here these days. Show me precisely where that's quoted in the Constitution?

Don't take the noob cracks seriously from these jokers who think they are superior because they've been here 5 minutes longer then you have. Hey huckleberry, the 2015 sign-ups are mostly trolls and and paid operatives or campaign social media volunteers. Guess you didn't know that. You do now.

Vattel isn't cited in the constitution. The consitution say that The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. That makes US citizenship an add-on to state citizenship.
What state was Cruz a citizen of, when he was born?

Vattel isn't cited in the constitution. Exactly, which makes this whole birther line of argument ridiculous and moot.

And the term "natural born citizen" is defined where in the U.S. Constitution?
Hint: It's not.
