DALLAS - By most accounts, census tract 166.05 is not a particularly desirable place to live. Tucked between two major highways in southwest Dallas, the neighborhood is characterized by clusters of ramshackle, one-story houses, huge swaths of vacant land and big warehouses and storage centers.
More than 40 percent of people living in the census tract have incomes below the poverty level, a proportion that more than doubled since 2000, according to U.S. Census data. Crime rates and levels of slum and blight are also high, according to the Dallas-based housing advocacy group the Inclusive Communities Project.
Such placement "perpetuates segregation," the group wrote in a strongly worded letter to the Dallas County Housing Agency in October. The vast majority of Dallas County's 4,200 rent-subsidy users are black, and they are being steered to "minority-concentrated, high poverty areas," the group said.

We live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We have recently moved from Mesquite a suburb to the east of Dallas, that over the last 15-20 years turned from a fairly decent place to live into a battleground between 3rd world illegals and home grown gibs-me-dats. We now live closer to Sherman -near the Oklahoma border- than we do to Dallas. The difference is night and day. Small-ish town, new, clean subdivisions, and no low rent housing. The town is wanting to develop the downtown area and include really nice condos. The catch is, a portion of the condos will be set aside for the “economically disadvantaged” ie people that haven’t developed the life skills necessary to legitimately own properties such as that. Inevitability, those that are basically gifted this property will not take care of it, because they didn’t have to work hard to earn it, and once it is run down will demand that others either fix it or give them some other nice place to live.
People don’t want to be threatened by people who either are or believe themselves to be different, particularly if an anti-white society gins up hatred. Yes, I believe liberals have made this an anti-white society.
Few know that many parts of South Dallas still do not have city sewer, which creates many issues regarding long term growth and improving the quality of life.
In every case, the local county commissioner has blocked the finances to build infrastructure improvements.
It isn’t the Anglos to blame for this, not 60 years since the area started growing.

I've found that, unhappily, the "life skills" are inbred; they don't have the intelligence to acquire them, much less want to acquire said skills. It will take generations, and the will to solve the problems. Whole disciplines; political, social, medical, even religion will need to unite to accomplish this.

Ft. Worth has always been cool with me. I’ve spent plenty of time down at the stockyards in my youth. Used to date a couple of TCU cuties too.
Dallas IS a sewer.
You know, I love the idea of Texas and love certain parts of the state, but Dallas doesn’t do a thing for me. I know, it has a dynamic, growing economy, etc. but for whatever reason, it’s not one of my favorite cities. If I were to live in TX it would probably be in the Hill Country.
In 2015 I moved back to Texas from Southern California and chose Dallas. I’m glad I found a nice part, Garland, but am happy with all of DFW. I work in a less than perfect area, but you’ll find that any place.
Is that over by the large reservoir you cross on I-30? I took an unplanned tour of Grapevine due to construction once and it seemed nice enough.
I live even farther to the east. My co-workers joke that I live at the TX/LA border. Downside: I spend 2 to 3+ hours each workday on the road. Upside: I have no government welfare types as neighbors. In the last couple of decades, I have seen many formerly decent DFW area neighborhoods fall into hellish conditions due to the acceptance of a preponderance of government housing vouchers. These recepients are like a swarm of locusts sweeping in, leaving only desolation and destruction in their wake as they move on to other environs to ravage.
A small town to the east of Mesquite was recently forced to build ‘affordable, multi-family’ housing, codespeak for apartments, for welfare types. All residences until this point were single-family. This is a VERY affluent small town, and this is the reason it was targeted for years by liberals to allow the government gimme-dats entry into the town. Do not despair, the town and lawyers abided by the letter of law...not the spirit. Apartments were built into a rezoned, formerly industrial area across the interstate from the primary area where most homes are located. Far enough away from homes of the folks that can truly afford to live there, but close enough to be under the scrutiny of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department substation just down the road.

I’ve seen what section8 does to middle class communities. Its not pleasant. In Memphis certain areas which were once thriving are now struggling. Crime is increasing in those areas.
Now if the regime focused on the places billionaires live and placed former section 8 residents there then this program would die immediately
Are you and your family OK? Garland took a beating during the 12/26/15 EF-4 tornado. You are right, some areas of DFW are less than stellar. I just drive with my doors locked and avoid ANY area south of downtown Dallas after dark as I dislike being carjacked, robbed, or shot.
