Do you favor single payer health care? That would be WORSE than what we have under 0bamacare.

And with Cruz as the nominee ( which hopefully won’t happen in ‘16 ! ), the Dems will win the presidency; yet again.

The only thing worse than Obamacare, is the mess it replaced.

Just saying.

We had a spirited discussion about this when it occurred, 3 months ago. Rather than everyone repeating their arguments again, it might save time to reread the thread from 3 months ago, for those who wish to revisit this.

I am a fan of HSAs, combined with catastrophic insurance. That is the most personalized and efficient system around, provided one is reasonably healthy.

That said, Medicare is a single payer system and everyone around here squeals like a stuck pig when the politicians talk about cutting entitlements like Medicare. Most FReepers appear to like it. Of course, we cannot afford single payer for everyone, so there’s that.

Now, the VA is socialized medicine, which to me is the worst of all.......by far.

Oh my God, are we seriously rehashing stuff from 3 years ago that has already been debated and settled?

What is wrong with you?

Oops, not 3 “years,” meant 3 months. Typo.

"Mr. Trump favors a single payer health care plan in certain situations."

Be honest - we already have that. In addition to the fact we already have "single payer in certain situations", a lot of the HC costs for the uninsured get buried in the HC insurance costs for those who do have HC insurance.

People shouldn't get stuck staring at one tree so long they get so cross-eyed they think the fuzzy thing they see is the whole forest.

Put all the facts and realities on the table.

Peoples views are allowed to evolve, just like Obama’s views on fudgepacker marriage. Trump will build the wall, bomb ISIS , stimulate the economy and keep the cronies out of Washington. His past views are not that important to me.

Trump's always been in favor of socialist healthcare. From his book "The America We Deserve":

"I'm a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one," Trump wrote. "We should not hear so many stories of families ruined by health care expenses. We must not allow citizens with medical problems to go untreated because of financial problems or red tape."

When he turned to how the country might achieve universal coverage, Trump focused like a laser beam on a Canadian-style, single-payer plan. He said it would eliminate many billions of dollars of overhead.

"The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than America," he wrote. "We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing."

Anyone willing to contort their view on single payer to defend their candidate is not a conservative, and neither is their candidate.

This medical system we have is based on people being sick. Medicare came in and fed into that. The medical community took advantage of ‘free’ money - government money.

It was bankrupt by the early ‘80s. No plan fro recovery. A lot of words, regulations, words, lip service, committees.

The pharmaceutical industry...

People get more dependent on being taken care of, no real attention to health, eating well, exercise. Not in general. Not with this obesity situation.

And a guy like Obama comes in and takes advantage of this terrible situation like a parasite on a sick tree.

Trump is going to try to fix it. He’s not a communist.

He’s not moving into the presidency in order to take more advantage of a sick system with the end goal of turning us into a complete nation of serfs so he can have more stuff, nor is he going to do that for his donors.

There is no candidate up there from either party who has a chance of not making obamacare much worse and/or turning it into a single payer thing, which is what all the one world people donating to every one else is intent on doing, in addition to bringing in all manner of unassimilating ‘refugees. None, except Trump.

THe southern southwest cities are about gone. No one against Trump gets that. Either that or they are working for a takeover of this country.

this is a three month old video. The date is snuck in at the top of the post and carefully erased form the video. it was made before Trump got serious after the popular response he is getting.

It is meant to discourage, by presenting it as something he is saying now.

If Trump turns obamacare into a single payer thing, it will in no way be any worse than what any other guy up there will do. Anyone who has a brain can see that.

He's been all over the place. Here is a report of when he defended Bill Clinton's sexual harassment as unimportant. Now, Trump pretends he was upset by it. The guy is a phony and a flake.

I have never seen such a perpetually stupid bunch of Freepers in my life. In less tha a month I’ll have been here for eighteen years, and I have NEVER seen it anywhere close to this bad.

Once more, let’s lead the children around this process again. Then next week we’ll have to do it again, because the disinformation folks will make it necessary.

These are the main four types of care.

Obamacare
Medicare
Medicaid
Indigent care

OBAMACARE

Trump is going to do away with Obamacare. He will work with Congress and the states to lower state boundaries so insurance companies can compete in all 50 states, or as many as they want. Today states limit insurance companies to operate in one or a few states. This stifles competition and the types of policies available.

Under this plan states that have five or ten companies competing today will instead have 50 or 100 competing. This will drive down policy costs and increase the diversification of policies.

This is a clear move (altogether now) AWAY FROM SINGLE PAYER!

Under Obamacare exchanges are closing, insurance companies are dropping out, and employers are stopping offering coverage. That all moves us closer to single payer. Trump’s plan does the exact opposite.

That covers Obamacare. That’s it in a nutshell, what we now have and what Trump proposes.

MEDICARE

Medicare DOES NOT CHANGE.

MEDICAID

Medicaid DOES NOT CHANGE.

INDIGENT CARE

Now we come to the part folks are trying to label “single-payer” so incredibly stupid ilinformed people can be misled.

LISTEN UP FOR THE THOUSANDTH TIME.

Indigents get their care paid for by the government and have for at least 40 years. Did anyone miss that? Those who cannot pay for their care have been covered by the government since at least the 1970s.

These people show up at the E.R. and every hospital that gets Medicare funds, is required by law to provide service to them. If the hospital refuses service, the federal government will nullify their ability to get Medicare funds for their elderly patients. Hardly any hospitals have done this. I have only heard of one or at most a few who have.

Once these people receive care in the E. R., they are evaluated. They can get on a Medicaid program if the have no money or assets. If they have money or assets, they have to pay. Another words they are means tested.

This still takes place under Obamacare. It will still take place under Trump.

This IS NOT what we think of as general working class access to healthcare, so this IS NOT a move to single payer. The indigent care has always been single payer, paid for by the government. Trump has stated he wants to get stakeholders together to see if there is a way to reduce the costs of indigent care provision. That is also the opposite of what the Left did setting up Obamacare. They actually avoided including some stakeholders in the process of developing Obamacare.

Working class access was not headed to single payer until Obamacare, and then it moved in that direction because the Left wanted that.

Trump is not pushing for single payer. If someone tells you he is, that person is either one of the dumbest people in our nation, or a flat out liar.

But for the most it's going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything."

Wait a minute...How is that "single payer"? I see a sort of safety net in this article but if "most" are going into private plans with lots of competitors, how is that single payer? We always argued for increased competition across state lines. All he seems to be missing is Tort reform.

I always understood single payer as a single government provided plan for all citizens. I really don't see anything about that here.

I guess you got too excited about your little hit piece and didn’t have time to proof read it.

It’s full of gibberish characters and it’s unreadable.

Better luck next time.
