Marco Rubio Has Some Swampland He’d Like to Sell You

To hear the Rubio supporters tell it — unsurprisingly the same people who supported Romney and McCain and Cochran and McConnell and (insert list of Republican white beards here) — Ted Cruz opposed the Gang of Eight bill because there just wasn’t enough liberal policy in it.

Yes, the likes of Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Michael Bennet (D-C), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John S. McCain III (R-AZ), and Marco Rubio (R-FL) just couldn’t insert enough liberal, “open border” policy into the Gang of Eight bill, they needed Ted Cruz R-TX to show them the way....

I like swampland. But I have enough of it in back of my house so I’m not buying more.

Who are Rubio supporters?

Seriously.

Has anyone talked to one?

Do they keep them in the same aisle as honest liberals and moderate Muslims at a store run by unicorns?

As far as I am concerned, Marco Rubio just proved he is not fit for office

They’re rare birds...but I suspect there are some amongst us cleverly disguised as Trump supporters talking down Cruz. That’s just IMHO, of course.

“Who are Rubio supporters?”

I know of a few. Months and months ago they were absolutely certain Rubio would be the nomination. When questioned, one of them has always been very coy about it and his response is always something like “you just wait and see! I know something you don’t know, na, na na!” This supporter is VERY much into party before principles group (Uniparty) and rubs shoulders with other guys who like little secret handshakes, believing themselves super ‘special’ and very important in their little club.

Who are Rubio supporters?

Well, I don't know if you'd call me a supporter, but I think he's a bigger threat than most on FR imagine he is. Time will tell on that front. Objectively speaking, I think he's done well in the debates. He's held his own or made up some ground. He's an attractive younger man with an interesting story to most people.

I think it's a common malady among Freepers that we believe that no one we don't like can have any broad appeal.

As for me, Rubio is on that list of people I could imagine myself voting for in a general election, but not the primary.

I'll vote for the nominee, with caveats. Under no circumstances will I vote for Bush or Graham. That would be a third-party vote for me, or else a no-vote at the top of the ballot.

“Where are Rubio supporters?”

For that matter, where is Rubio?

I read an online article in a Fla paper that said his supporters were complaining about his lackadaisical campaigning. He has barely been to Iowa or New Hampshire. He only has 7 staffers in NH and that’s as many as the lowest tier candidates. 10 candidates have been there more than he. Only Carson has been there less.

Dishonesty, poor work ethic, and weak organizational skills are doing him in.

He thought the GOPe would just pave the way for him when he saw how weak Bush is. Miscalculation on his part.

He did the exact same thing to Trump in November. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/11/rubios-ironic-attack-on-trump-immigration-flip.html#

He has proved his unfitness several times. He is scary when he talks about military action abroad. He wants to strike everyone. Well, that’s an exaggeration, but it starts to feel that way. He would start a world war if he became President.

He needs to get a brand new credit card and go charge it up to the max to relieve some stress.

I know people who think hes the sensible choice. They tell me nobody else (they told me the same about Jeb)can win a national election. I told these same people the base is deciding this one, not the donors and not the media.

Yep, those folks love to say “he’s unelectable” when it comes to anyone who doesn’t toe the Uniparty line. They always say it with an air of self importance too.
