POLITICO Caucus shows Cruz gaining ground and Clinton pushing Sanders aside in the early voting states.
After months of waiting for Donald Trumpâs decline, Republican insiders now concede the poll leader could take two of the first four early voting states, though they caution his hold on Iowa is weak.
Thatâs according to the POLITICO Caucus, our weekly poll of the top strategists, operatives and activists in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada.
For this Thanksgiving holiday week, POLITICO analyzed seven months-worth of responses to our weekly benchmark question: Who would win your state if the voting were today? The result offers a snapshot of the current state of primary play â with Trump, Cruz, and Rubio grappling for wins in the early states â and chronicles Republicansâ slow acceptance of the real estate mogul as a contender with staying power.....

In September I was at a parade in Marshalltown. There were 4 people marching for Carly, 1 person for Graham, 1 person for Santorum, 1 pickup decorated for Ben Carson and about 30 or 40 marching for Trump. I spoke to the Trump people. Don’t think any of them are changing their mind. They told me the would only vote for Trump, Carson, or Carly. Otherwise they stay home.
Yeah, I’ve been surprised at how well he does in the polls among ‘likely caucus goers’.
He just doesn’t seem to fit the Iowa caucus mold. I think he’d do well in a regular primary there.
The Iowa Caucus is so stupid. It isn’t even a private ballot. It is meaningless anyway!
More PolitiCrap and their usual lying about “how the Trump Campaign is dying, etc.”
Man the leftists are desperate now, they realize Hillary is gonna get crushed
I’ve never understood the hype around the Iowa caucus.
There is supposed to be a large number of evangelicals in Iowa and I have noticed that in each debate Cruz will say something religious and Biblical to get that group salivating. It is all about building momentum going into New Hampshire.
LOL...wow.
Sounds like something I used to hear from liberals in the old AOL chat rooms.
Who cares about idiot Iowa voters? Not me.
It’s Iowa, it’s February...I bet most of them have treats too...
Given that the 1st Amendment prohibits Congress from making religion-related laws, are these evangelicals expecting Cruz as president to make unconstitutional executive orders actions excuses like Obama does, except to favor Christians?
It would probably be better for them to stay home. I wish all LIV would stay home.
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
It will be interesting to see how accurate these insiders are with their feel for the electorate. If they're the same insiders who've "helped" the GOP for years, color me skeptical.
Rush warned Mitt Romney and the GOPe to ignore them at their peril.
Gotta love the insiders. Karl Rove is most likely one.
Here the deal. These Trump marchers that I talked to were a lot of independents who are registering republican so they can vote in the primaries. Pretty much fed up with the establishment who vote like the lobbyist tell them to.
“Given that the 1st Amendment prohibits Congress from making religion-related laws, are these evangelicals expecting Cruz as president to make unconstitutional executive orders actions excuses like Obama does, except to favor Christians?”
No, they just would prefer to have a fellow-believer in the White House. American Christians have always been stringent upholders of the Constitution.
When I see Cruz make his comments, it comes across to me as pandering. He has some backers who certainly are not evangelicals, to put it mildly.
Is that you, Donald Trump? :-)
Liberal Repubs don’t learn.

I agree. This Politico article is simply an attempt to goad Trump into attacking Cruz. Both Trump and Cruz are too savvy to take the bait IMHO, so this is simply another mainstream Uniparty tactic doomed to fail.
